I would get the same result if I over-torqued them! I would pull the threads out of the head again. BTW, my car lives again. I have ONE more leak to fix, and that will be done at an exahust shop soon. The donut where my downpipe connects to the mid-pipe was too big. I will need to get the right sized one.

Hey Pat that has happened to me 4 TIMES...quick fix for me thou, heli-coil mang.
wont happen again. mine was doing it cause the dang thing(area where the head and mani mate) would get so hot and the mani with the turbo wieghed so much it would actually slide the bolt/stud right out with the threading from the head.....sucked.

That's what happened to me twice now. I was originally taking the manifold off to fix one of the studs that had pulled the treads out of the head, but ended up breaking one of my top studs. It has been two bottom studs though. You'd expect the top studs to be doing it, but they have been strong.

yep...especially with the log style manifold. too hot and too much wieght. i can almost guarantee you it will happen again. the heli-coils were the way to go for me. i had them make the hole diameter bigger to put bigger size bolts for extra support. i used allen head mm bolts on the 4 corners.
