So MAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to go out last night to pick up my fiancee, who was stuck at her mother's last night after the Rod Stewart concert (no cabs), as I am pulling out my buildings garage, I make the right turn all of a sudden the car shifts, I think OK tire bump a snow bank or something.............no the FU%^ING snow bank DENTS the passanger side door !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to go to a body shop I delt with in the past to get a price in a lil' while. I was so pissed I couldn't even sleep. (rant) (blarf) (ugh)

Man, that sucks! I've sure everything will be "like new" after the body shop finishes. Will your insurance pick up the tab?

Vince.

usually with snow, they create such a "soft" dent that they will probably be able to remove it with dentless paint removal...

thats funny cause I did the same thing with one of the cx-7s here (hit a snow bank that was wider than assumed). I was lucky though and the snow gave in so no damage/marks...

good luck!

It is on the lower crease of the door. It will cost $840.00 to fix. I might go after my building's insurance, because the guys in my building shoveled into the pile. I will wait to see if I am gonna file a claim (already showed it to the super, and left a message for the buildings manager to contact me with their insurance info.), because they are trying to relocate us to a different apartment, and give us a deal on the price.

so wait... just so I understand this correctly -

because YOU drove into a snow pile, you want someone else to pay for the damages? I dont see how its anyones fault but your own that you hit the snow bank.

of course. this is America where everything is someone elses fault.

You should sue Mazda for making vehicles that are able to be dented....those fuckers!!!

this is one of those situations that sucks, but happens. if you REALLY dont want to pay for it, just call up your insurance company and make a claim on it. you'll have to pay your deductible, and your rates may go up, but its not all out of pocket. note YOUR insurance. not theirs.

here's a not my fault

Maybe this should be a new post but the discussion got me thinking about my situation. I found a scratch on the roof of my CX-7 after getting my car back from the dealer. On Tuesday, I had the dealer apply an interior sealant. When I picked it up, I was focused on how the interior looked (which was great). Yesterday, while I was dusting the car (with a totally safe car duster), I saw a scratch on the roof on the passenger side, just above the door jamb. It is about an inch long and about as a thick as a quarter. It seems to go to the primer. I know it was not present Monday as I had washed my car and carefully dried it.

I don't have any direct proof, but it seems like the circumstantial evidence supports my conclusion that someone at the dealer scratched it while doing the sealant job. (Maybe they hung on the door as they were leaning in and scratched it with a ring or something.) It's not in a place where a rock would likely be responsible, nor is it the kind of scratch you get in a parking lot. It also isn't the kind of scratch you'd associate with a vandal. The scratch is thick enough and deep enough that I think I need to have it fixed to avoid future problems. Plus, its upsetting to look at.

I suspect the guys at the shop don't even know that they did it (assuming they are responsible). I just happen to be tall enough to easily notice it.

My question for you folks is do you think I should try to get mazda to fix it or do you think it's not worth the fight & I need to just deal with it myself?

Thanks for your input.

i vote for not worth the fight. even if you had seen it on the day your car was fixed and not left it would be hard for you to prove that they caused the scratch and that it wasn't already there. now days later it will be even harder to prove. it won't hurt to ask but if they say no i wouldn't pursue it too much

+1. ask them about it, make your claim that it was not there on Monday and see what they say.

Thank you both for the good advice. I think I'll give them a call and ask them about it in the nicest way I can.

I don't expect much but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

My garage comes from out of the ground, you could NOT see the snow bank and the guys in my building shoveled it into a pile in the path out of the drive way (about 1'-2'), instead of throwing it in the street for either the plows OR cars to run over it.

Recommend you take some digital pics to bolster your case - some of the snow mound from different angles, showing its relationship to the entrance/exit of the garage.

Also, take pics of the damage.

could not see it and did not see it are different things. maybe it was in a blind spot since it's an suv and they have big blind spots. regardless of how it happened you hit it, it did not hit you. you also kept driving after you felt a bump rather than taking the time to figure out what it was that was prohibiting your motion . you are at fault

throwing it in the street is illegal in my area...all snow must be deposited on the property from which it came.

doesnt matter... its your responsibility as a driver to be attentive and aware of your surroundings... Had it been a little kid that you hit and hitting him dented the car, would you sue the parents? I bet you wouldnt...

also... wannabe is right, in most areas its illegal to throw the snow in the middle of the street.

Add to that, if they DID throw it in the street, they would just be making it more dangerous to anyone actually using that road at that time.

I pulled over 2 blocks later, because people were behind me.

Hey I know it is a b**** to ding your new car..

I was backing up my then new Long Bed Extended Cab 4x4 truck (READ VERY TALL and VERY LONG) and I looked out the rear, stuck my head out the drivers side and looked at the right side mirror. Nothing seen but a parking bumper 3 feet farther back for the tire and an open space in the middle of this parking log.

Hoever, I failed to notice before I originally aligned the truck that they had this 2' cement filled pole just tall enouth to hit my bumper. So here I am slowly carefully backing my new truck back and BANG it stops!. I get out cannot believe it when I see that I put a dent in my new trucks bumper and here is this pole that cannot be seen unless you walked around first.

Still it was MY FAULT. I was driving.... Not the ass hat who stuck a pole iin the middle of a freaking parking lot... You were driving. You hit a stationary object. You need to take responsibility for your failure to clear yourself properly and not try to make someone else pay for your mistake. (five-0)

Still sucks
