demented CD deck [kenwood]

I was driving today, and for the first time my CD player deck goes funky and decides to close (i guess?) only it gets stuck half way... Imma paperclip it in a sec, but have any of you guys gotten the deck replaced because of this?? I hate the thought of restoring all my settings after resetting it...argh. Also, how many times did it happen before you brought it in for replacement?

My dealership ordered another HU for me, but it's on a 4 month back order. It did it four times on one trip from Galveston to Austin, while I had friends in the car. Not so cool considering all I do is talk about how great the car is...

Mine sometimes gets hung up but never while driving. Usually when I turn off the car or when i start the car. When I start the car the player turns around (because its in the on position) but when you actually start the engine it stops for a second then continues. Thats where it hangs up on me the most. To avoid it I always turn the unit off before I turn the car off and turn it on only when I already have the engine running. This reduces a lot of unneccesary movement on the head unit. To turn the headunit off push and hold the src button and to turn the head unit back on push the upper left hand corner. Hope this makes sense, my brain is a little fried from doing a million things at once today.

has anyone else had the liberty of having the KENWOOD deck shut off it's self and get stuck WHILE driving?

You guys need to bare in mind this is an EXTREAMLY common issue for that POS deck. Damn near all of them will do this eventualy. Simply put get a new deck. Replacements will only cuase the same headache.

I had the same prob b4 it got stolen. I replaced it w/ Kenwood-KDC-MP922.

JavoMSP has replaced his radio 3 times, and the same problem. Actually pretty annoying. Set-up in this radio its a b****. Try to get dealer to buy him an Alpine or pay for a different radio. At the same time of replacement the dealer scratch the s*** out of the center panel.

Did the stock harness fit directly into the back of Kenwood-KDC-MP922 ?

I went to the local Kenwood dealer here that I used to work for years ago. Asked if they've sold many of these decks. They said yes, tons of them, and not one has ever come back. These guys would not s*** me, I know them all well. These guys sell all the major brands. i used to work their and I might have seen one deck come back that was a kenwood. Pioneer, jvc....another story.

So I contact another store I know where a friend works....same story...no problem

So, this begs me to ask, is kenwood giving Mazda refurbished equipment? because something is going on here.

refurbished? that would be odd, however i do not have the problem, but i do have to prob where my sub stopped working. Rather than take it to mazda and have them take that whole shelf thing out and order a new one and wait forever, Im just gonna put a different sub in it. I might get this one replaced though ahhh this is a new car i shouldnt have to be thinking about this!

I have talk to people from several different chains that sell the exact deck in the MSP and all of them mentioned the same known problem before I even told them what it was!!!
Refurbs have always been my hunce since the MP3s Z919 was a pretty bad one to and the 828 was no Gem either.

i have the same problem my radio shut off tonight completely while driving had it at about 27 for 15 minutes...lost all power to my headunit...it is now stuck about half way open and wont close no matter how many times i start and shut the car!!!! im going to mazda tommarow hopefully they dont give me some bulls*** about power being run by the hids and the street glow

msp kenwood needs fixing

How is the ground on the Mazdaspeed? My (borrowed) kenwood did this, I took a look, and the ground had come loose. I'm gonna see if I can patch it up a bit, and see if that helps with any of the other issues I've had.
