Delsing Klunk Fix installation?

exactly, just cut the nut off they less than fifty cents a piece. Use a dremel cut off wheel if you have nothing better. goodluck

Now you know how people like me felt when upgrading our stock struts. The endlinks were a b****. Well, the rear ones were, the fronts ones came off and went on with no problems, the rears were another story. Not even after leting them soak over night did they want to come off. In the end I wound up using a grinder to cut them bizznitches off. I even drove with a lowered front suspension and a stock rear suspension for a day. looked like I dropped a V8 into my car. Till this day I still curse those endlinks.

Im trying to get an idea of the installation. I sort of walked myself through the process last night to see what was needed and such. I took off the bolts on the bottom part of the endlink (where attached to bar) and not the one nearest the brakes. Is this what everyone is talking about? I was able to take the nut off the bottom one with not problem and once that was off I could sort of move the endlink a little bit from the bar but not much as I could feel pressure from the other nuts still on there.

Also, anyone have problems with the bushing that were on the bar itself? I was able to loosen the bushing plate however I only got as far as the nut would let me loosen it. I was able to sick my pinky in there and hold the nut to loosen the bolt all the way, but then there are two and the other one looked even harder. There has got to be a better way than this.

Stock bar size. You can get bushings to fit any bar you'd like, but the bar has to have the same bends as the stock bar (has to be flat where the new bushing location is).

IIRC I had no problem with the endlinks, but I may have used a needlenose vise-grip to keep the one bolt from spinning - but it's been almost a year since I did it. You *may* even be able to get away without removing the endlinks, just unbolt the bushing brackets and remove the split bushings. You don't nevcessarily want the whole weight of the swaybar hanging off those endlinks at an odd angle either, so prop it up.

Here are a couple pics that may help. Note when installing the bushings - mounting them too high may result in interference between the zerk cover and the suspension diagonal. You want to mount the bushings even on both sides to avoid preloading the suspension, and a little lower is better.

The BFOJ (large orange jack) was positioned under the HiddenHitch to raise the car, then jackstands under the rocker jacking points, then I could safely go under the car to put jackstands under the crossmember (wood pads to keep from scratchin'). Didn't even have to move the crossmsmber, just did one side at a time. When mounting the bushings to the bar, I roughed up the paint a little to allow the grease somewhere to be - smooth paint + urethane = the sound gym shoes make on a freshly-urethaned gym floor.

Good luck all.

(anyone notice the cookies next to the creeper?)

I just got mine today, complete with instructions and endlinks. Now all I need to do is go out and buy some grease and a grease gun for lubricating the bushings, and recommendations for brands/types? (I ordered the bushings from summit that were posted in the other thread)

Anyone get them installed yet? Im going to try again tommorrow on my day off. Hopefully I can get up early enough.

I finally got it installed today. Those endlink nuts were ridiculous. The rest of the job wasn't too bad in theory, but being cramped under the car for hours on end really gets to you.

So far feels great, and no clunk.

I must say, however, that the bushings I got are a tad bigger than the bar...anyone else run into that?

Is the MSP rear swaybar the same size as the mp3?

I have had my endlinks off a few times changing springs, and never had much trouble with the nut. A allen wrench and a open end wrench and some liquid wrench and they were off.

I was waiting to hear some reveiws, i plan on gettting this.

Just finished intalling the bracket today. Started around 2 and finished around 5
so about a 3 hour job. It wasnt too bad. I had no problem with the endlink nuts. Just used an open ended wrench and loosened with no problem. My holdup now is I dont see how I can get a grease gun to the ports it seems as if a part of the suspension is in the way. I guess Ill worry about it 10k miles down the road ;)

There are two things that I am sort of worried about but not sure if its going to be a big thing with driveability (already tested it out and no clunk but cant quite gauge handling capabilities around my neighborhood)

1. It said to keep the endlinks and bushing bracket loosened then lower it and tighten them all up. I went ahead and tightened everything, endlink nuts and bushing bracket(clamp) bolts before I lowered the car.

2. The bushing bracket(clamp) seems to hang over the klunk bracket. Like its too big for the bracket or something. It only hangs down about a 1/4 inch but its noticeable.

Are these things going to effect anything later on or perhaps stability in the rear suspension?

Yeah supposedly the MSP bar is a little larger than the MP3 bar (don't know exact size). So the bushings are probably too big in the kit for MP3s.

The link in the other thread didn't work for me. Can you tell me the part numbers from summit for the bushing?

The bushing bracket on the Energy Suspension bushing hangs a little below the Delsing bracket - no big deal, it's not structural there. My zerks aren't blocked, but I have a prototype and the dimensions may be a tad different. If they're blocked, just jack the rear a bit and they'll clear. If you don't have a grease gun you can pre-grease the bushings to do the install then grease-gun them later. Hope this helps...
