stock wheel weight with tires? anyone have a definate answer? ive seen people debating or trying to remember from 3 months ago, and ive seen a range of answers...i just got my konig 17" holes and 215/40 tires...they weigh in at 37lbs per rim/tire...i wanted the konig heliums, but alas, they dont come in our bolt pattern...so im trying to find out how much of a weight difference for sure

16 for the rims, 20 for the rubbers. that'll make 36 pounds. 37 for wider and bigger is sweeeeet. what's the offset you got though? you might have some rubbing issues with 215 tires.

That is right on the money....and to be sure....I just took one of my wifes OLD 16" Stock Alloy wheels/tires that are sitting in our garage and weighted it....36 pounds on the nose.

Tonk....he will be just fine with 215's as long as he got a wheel with a +48 or better offset.....I am currently running that combo PER THE RECIPE, and the cars lowered too...and no RUBBY! not even with peoples in the back.

sir nuke,
yeah, i just forgot to point him in the direction of the fitment recipe. i'm studying for a test. it's just i can't recall ever seeing any konig being higher than a +45 offset in the 17" size though.

tonkabui, I just verified stock combo weight: 36.0 lbs (accurate to 0.5 lbs)

my new ones are 39.0, not bad but not fantastic

well im only gaining a pound then, shouldnt be much of an effect...i dunno, whalen tires guarunteed that any choice on their website would fit (and they offered 215 and 205), and i have tein lowering springs so i hope they dont rub

yes the rims are 45 offset, but according to the fitament rec, it says i should be good with 45 so long as the rim is 17x7, and the rim is a 17x7, not 17x7.5, which requires 48 or more...so i should be good right?

Rishie:
The fitment recipe will work with lowered vehicles. no worries. A +42 with 205/40/17 will be fine.

His fitament rec. says 17x7 with 215/40s and +45 will work...the konig holes according to whalentire's website are exactly that...so i should be good to go with no rubbing even with my lowered vehicle - WHEW! (wipes the sweat from the forehead)

on the stock tire sizes, i sure do appreciate you guys weighing your stock tires, seeing that currently i am 1198 miles from my car, and i had my rims shipped here...as soon as i made sure that everything was there, i went and weighed them...hopefully 1lb over stock wont screw up my times too bad...thanks for everyones replies...ill be posting pics of the rims installed - they seem to look great even off the car in graphite...i also highly recommend using whalentire.com, it took them like 3 business days to get them to me with 4th of july and all!

well you already got your answer from Rishie...but YEP YEP YEP....with a 7 inch wheel...the 45's are a GO....and even with it lowered...you will love the look.....its great!

dont forget that going for bigger wheels will have a slight effect even if they are the same weight as oem...all because the weight has been shifted further away from the centre of the wheel, so you have the same weight, but you're having to move it further (ie instead of 8" from the centre of the wheel, you've now got that weight 8.5" from the centre of the wheel).

later

thanks guys, i cant wait to get home on sunday and put them on my car...i hope the graphite looks good with my laser blue - it should match the carbon fiber hood ill be getting pretty good...nuke you might want to make this sticky for those people that are curious of the stock wheel weight? i dunno just a suggestion
