245's? Can you get that much rubber hot with the P5? What size rim are you running? 15? Post some pics once you have them mounted because I bet a 245 looks freakin' awesome on a P5!!! (shocked)

I'll be mounting them on 16X8 FD rims. I'm running 225 Hankook Z212s on them right now. I had to take breaks at the end of each run to let them cool down last time I was there. they won't last another weekend at the Gap. I'm wanting to try the new Nitto NT01 245/45-16. They will probably rub a little in the back with the current setup, but I'm going to be running the new 275/35-15 Hoosier this season and I might have to cut and flare the fenders anyway.

Sweet! What do you think of the Hankook Z212's?

They are OK. Not as good as the RT-615, but the 225/45-16 Z212 size was available a few months before the 225/50-16 Azenis and I was ready to buy. They are much better in the rain at full depth than the Azenis. They are also a lot more noisy at the limit than the Azenis.

I am getting ready to buy new tires so thanks for the info!

I can't make the weekend of the 22nd. I have a race in Greensboro. If I have enough money I'll head up there the weekend before and crash the rotary party. Hopefully I'll have my 245s mounted by then.

the rotary meet is the 20-22. looks like the gap is going to be packed this weekend. i think theirs also a S2000 meet and a 240 meet the same weekend there.

Usually how it is all year long. Multiple meets every weekend.

You'll probably have a couple bike meets too.

Be careful you guys who go. A friend in the area has alerted most of the locals to the fact that the law enforcement is going to be very strict there this year. Anyone exceeding 50 mph will be arrested and impounded.

I got this from a TN State Trooper, Officer C. (don't want his department to find out he's sharing this info).

Just don't drive like an asshole. I mean really how often do you get over 40 anyways? 1 straight shot and thats only 1/4mi or so.

Then again I wasn't on the cherohala either. I don't know how that is.

No idea, I've never been up there. I was just trying to help you out man, take it or leave it.

the cherohala is a much higher speed based route. i cant really remeber to well from last years meet but i think we hit much higher than 50 a lot.

i guess the guys decided to change their mind after shooting down my suggestion of inviting other mazdas.

Yeah, I get up over 40 pretty much all the time there.

But like I've said, I used to work there and have driven the road thousands of times.
