Dealer replaced a strut, should this have happened??

Hello to all,

I had a struct replaced under warranty on my 2009 CX9 GT. I noticed that it appears there is a slight to moderate separation of the [black] wheel-well to where it attaches to the rear qtr-panel in the curved tire area. You can see holes in the area...shouldn't there be clips or something that hold these two adjoining bodies?

Thanks,

Yes. I had a failing driver's door cladding clip. Basically the clips just loose their strength over time. Its covered under 3/36 warranty which is now up for me. Good new is that the clips are replaceable, but your best bet is to buy all the clips for the entire piece and re-install the entire piece. If you try to lift the area to replace just one clip you may begin to chase additional clips which will stress and loose their strength as they are pulled on.

Thanks helbigtw...makes sense on the "all replacement" strategy...my car is now just out of the 3/36 [owned the car for 2 yrs, but 40K]. What is the cost of the clips?
