Just a quick question here, can you rest your avg mpg on the dashHawk, if so how? Ive messed around with it a little but cant figure out how. How help would be appreciated.

Nobody huh?

mebbe I missed your point

you get the avg mpg by taking the miles on the trip odo and dividing by the number of gallons you pumped

then you zero the odo

to get your avg,

you average
IE

3 tanks of data
16.4, 17.8, 19.9
16.4+17.8+19.9= x
x div by 3 = avg mpg

the rest of whatever you had in mind is useless bulls***

sorry, had to deal with some dead patients today, so, less nursing to go around

The Dashhawk will be relying on what the car tells it, which is usually a bald-faced lie. I like using Fuelly. It's easy to keep up and provides some interesting insight into fuel consumption. Remember, to accurately determine mileage you MUST fill it absolutely full, which is not a super idea. The evaporative emissions system won't like that. I can't break the habit though. :D

I know if i want an accurate calculation to figure it up myself, I was really just wanting to reset the avg mpg that the dashHawk reads out. I mean I know its not accurate but Id like to reset it so its not reading out what it has been for however many miles. And I am with you Mike, everytime the pump stops at 39.5 I have to push it to get to an even number.

My ScanGauge II will provide mileage numbers and they can be reset. I've never set that up, 'cause I use it in different cars.
