Alright so I went out with the little bro and did some filming to get a few sound clips.

Did a few runs to hear the whistling:

1. 2 Runs with the windows down. You can hear the whistling in the second run pretty well.

2. Run filmed from outside. (Pay attention as I rip by after I shift into third.)

3. Run with the windows closed (Hard to hear the whistling)

Enjoy and try and figure out what this is!!

ok that definitely sounds weird, how long has it been making this sound, and did it make this sound when you first put on the short ram intake.

yep, mine does the same thing. Mine isn't as high pitched or as loud, but seems to make the noise at about the same spot.

Made this noise when it was stock. I've had the car for about 7 months and it's been making this noise since the day I picked it up.

Like I said, I got the exhaust gaskets fixed, so there's no way it's that...

I can't seem to figure it out and I've tried everything.

Any other possible ideas??

that sound is almost certainly coming from the intake side, check the intake system (from air filter all the way to the intake manifold) for any leaking

another way to check is, have your girlfriend (girl that spoke in the video?) blip the throttle while you listen in the engine bay, hood up of course.

I was thinking it may just be the injector making that sound, but injectors even if loud doesn't make that air sucking whistle sound.

Mine did it when it was stock too, now w/ short ram intake its louder. I like it and I've gotten comments thinking it is boost! Had to say no though

Thanks for the info though... I'll take a look at the intake later on today and have my BROTHER blip the throttle for me.

I've been having that exact same sound on mine for a long while. Never got much help as to what it is. Maybe it's a special feature installed on Black Mica p5s?
The sound has to be related to rpms while in motion. The sound is not there at any speed, as long as you are under the 4-5k range. Rev it as hard as you want in a shop, and you will not hear the sound.
It's not the roofracks, as I removed mine and installed stock fillers. It's not aftermarket intake related, as I am still stock.

Hey I tought I was the only one with this whistle noise thing. From the video MTV posted, it sounds identical to my car.

I don't mind it, I'm just afraid it could be a sign of future problems to come.

Oh and It's def not a black mica whistle, i'm red.

off-topic: what headunit and exhaust do you have?

I would recommend taking to a garage and have them check the engine out. It could be piston seals or valves. If it's not that, I would think it's something with the intake manifold gaskets, VTCS or VICS issue, or maybe even a vaccum leak. Good luck man.
