Damn It I Hate Cops!!!!!!

Not so much cops, just dickhead cops. I was driving to work today and there were 2 state troopers parked on a cross street talking. I drove by, doing 55 (in a 55 zone) and just minding my business. The one pulls out behind me and follows me for a few miles then pulls me over. When i ask HER why she was pullin me over she said because your exhaust is too loud. WTF, i was doin 55 in 5th gear, and down a slight hill. My RPMs are around 2500 at that speed, theres now way in hell it was too loud. Thats not the good part thought, then she asked me to roll up my windows. Im like aww s***, i knew my window tint was illegal but i played ignorant and told her i had no idea. THEN she goes to my windshield to check the VIN and see the crack in it. So After its all said and done she gave me a ticket for the window tint, and a fix-it-ticket on the windshield. THEN the whole reason she stopped me in the first place (exhaust) she didnt even mention it.

It just urks me that they have nothing better to do then BS me on my way to work for my exhaust. Ive had it on there for over a year, and now its too loud. The thing about the windshield doesnt bother me cuz now im motivated to get it fixed, and the window tint thing is BS cuz my front windows were down this morning. Anyways just needed to vent...:bs:

take it to court, teel the judge why she stopped you than ask the cop why she didnt give you anything for the exhaust.

You can always say it was an OEM part since its not about a foot across. Next time tell them the car "came that way" they wont know the difference, especially since they have to prove it was bought as an aftermarket part that "increases hp". Ask them if they give out tickets to Harleys too. lol

But cant help you on the other aspects of the tickets.

i was pulled over once for a loud exhaust....and made them put the meter on it..nowhere close, then he wanted to give me a ticket for my car being too low. there is no law about how high/low your car is in louisiana...i told him he was full of bs and had no cause for pulling me over and unless he has a warrant there is nothing he can do and drove off.

If a cop pulls you over, he has to summons you, or give you a warning for the initial reason he stopped you. He cant pull you over for exhaust then give you a ticket for tint and not for exhaust.

he or she has to have reasonable suspicion for the stop. If he or she fails to ticket you for the intial stop reason... you win.

And yeah about the harley thing, that pisses me off. Ive got my hands on a DB meter and im gonna measure my aftermarket exhaust and compare it to the OEM one on a harley. Maybe if i play it right i can measure a cop motorcycle....

bu11dogg2- Your absolutely right. Like if they pulled you over for a busted tail light, and then they search your car and find some weed for example, the weed cannot be admitted into evidence.

Now, replace the word weed with exhaust. She couldn;t give you a ticket for a different reason other than the exhaust in this case.
Make sure you talk to more people, then take her to court just for the hell of it. Teach that b**** a lesson.

My brother is a cop. He says you can get a ticket for whatever else they might find [wrong/illegal] in your car, even if they dont give you a ticket for the initial reason they stop you for as long as they take action about it. In your case, she gave you a warning; that is like a ticket, she is warning you. However; you can still get out of it by proving that it wasn't remotely close to loud, etc. If the ticket isn't for much money or if she isn't a real b****, she won't show up for court and your ticket might get removed or discounted.
