Anyone opt for the digital rear view mirror option? If so do you like it?

Looks like an expensive option that I like ... but at $800..

Digital mirrors have their drawbacks too.
- No depth perception.
- You can’t change the angle of view by moving your head.
- poor performance in rain and dust (when the camera gets dirty
- poor performance in the dark (cameras are worst than human eyes in the dark)
- sometimes get dizzying on bumps.
At least you still have the availability to change it from digital to normal mirror based on the situation and you can use the best one of the two.
Before paying for the option, i would try it in a test drive . If the cars at dealers don’t have it, there are a few cars from other manufacturers with digital rearview mirror that you could test it on. You may love it, or you might hate it.

So maybe the location of the display causes some eyestrain. THey have all kinds of these devices on amanzon and when they are mounted at the dash level they're ok for what they are.
The reviewers on amazon say they work best as a backup camera and dashcam, not so good for using as a rear view mirror.
I have become used to using the side mirrors so much because I can't really see that well out the back of the CX5 that I've thought it might be worth a couple of hundred bucks to have as an option, but they say they can also run down the battery (when used for security).

I drove a new Chevy Equinox with digital rear view mirror and quite liked it.
Wider view than normal mirror, and very high quality video. Once the angle was set correctly the rear 3/4 view in combination with side mirrors was crazy good. No problems in pitch black Volcano National Park backing up.
The GM implementation was quite good. Also later experienced it in a high spec GMC Sierra ATX4. Really good implementation.
I imagine, but don’t know, that all these parts are made by one or two suppliers.
Nothing behind me is of importance...
