I don't really like the stock antenna on my 07 Hatchback, I assume it's bouncing around when I'm driving because it's pretty flexible. I did a search and read a bunch of old post about shorter antenna's. One had some pics of the CX-7 antenna on a 3 sedan and it looked very good. Ron Tonkin chimed in on that post and said CX-7 antenna was a perfect fit for the 3's so I ordered one from his site last night. It's $13.60 + $5 for shipping, pretty good price plus it's an OEM part.

Truthfully, I didn't think to look to see it if came with a different antenna than my 3 Hatchback and I've never seen a SP3 in person to look. I'm still learning about my car, only had it three weeks.

To me they look the same. I will have to check the part numbers tomorrow and see if they are indeed the same antenna.

That's something I don't get about manufacturers. Why put a longer, less astetically pleasing, bouncey antenna on a Regular 3 Hatchback, Then put a nice, better looking stubby antenna on the SP3? There both Hatchbacks.

Yeah I think it is just Mazda's way of updating things. Maybe they realized after they put the long one on the 3's that a shorter one is the way to go. Or it could be Mazda's way of saying "you pay more money get better things". You know?

well the sp3 antenna is shorter and is a non flexible peice hard peice of material. Of course I like it better than my old 04 5 door 3 also.

Note that the speed has an RF amplifier built into the base of the antenna; the regular 3 does not. So, if you put the MS3 antenna (which I believe is identical to the CX-7 one) you will lose signal strength. If you are mostly in the city it won't matter.

The CX-7 and MS3 antennas are the exact same part number!

I've got it on my 3 and haven't lost any signal strength
