Hi guys,

Looking to find out what parts 2.5 AWD (but also FWDs and 2.0s for those that have it) are shared with different models ? Maybe we can sticky this or create a new thread with this information?

Engine:
Drive Train:
Suspension parts:
Navigation system (Infotainment System):
etc...

I think this will be helpful when people are looking for additional information or mods to do.

For example: Im looking to do and find out the following:

-From my understanding the 2.0 does not have balance shafts. Im assuming our 2.5 does have Balance shaft as I see on vendor sites they have kits for other models but I dont know if its the same motor as ours or different 2.5. Which other Mazda models have the same 2.5 skyactiv motor ? Maybe I can use the balance shaft eliminator kit for that car on this?

-Thinking about blocking the EGR as well. Any other model sharing the same engine that I can use their EGR blockoff/delete if available?

I do not know of a EGR kit for the skyactiv. I also have not heard any tuners mentioning turning off the egr sensors (although I'm sure the table has been mapped by now) otherwise you'd get a cel after blocking them. The 2.5 has a balance shaft. Not worth deleting unless you are ready to get a lightweight pulley/crank shaft set to go with it, which currently is not available for our engine. Also it's a technical task to properly reinstall a balance shaft, where as removing it is not. All of the 2.5 skyg engine are the same, except the ecu tuning varies among models.

Thanks for the info.

If I would remove the balance shaft, I dont plan on ever putting it back. However I would want to put in a baffle in its place to prevent/reduce oil splashing in the empty space possibly away from the oil pickup.

Just curious why would I need a pulley/crank shaft set? If I’m not mistaken all cranks are balanced on all cars or at least they were on my previous cars Nissan Sentra SER Spec V and Mitsubishi Evolution 9. The balance shaft is just for luxury reasons to reduce engine vibration. The reason I would want to remove it is back in 2003 on my Nissan Sentra SER Spec V I removed it to free up some whp and as a side effect my MPG’s increased. I gained a huge amount of MPG’s. It went from getting 210 miles per 10 gal (21 mpg) to 260 miles per 10 gal driven (26 mpg). The engine vibration added was very little. It was only felt ever so faintly on the steering wheel during WOT higher rpms. Like your phones vibration alert but 1/20th of its strength. The Nissan Balance shaft looked exactly like the 2.5 Sky motor just it was spun with a chain. The Evo on the other hand was a different balance shaft setup without a case.

As for the EGR, is there a sensor that detects me just blocking the exhaust gas path and still leaving it plugged in (without tuning) ?

Thanks,
