2013~2016: CX-5 Bose Infotainment Settings Gone

Hi all! I’m new to the forum but have been reading up on it here and there.

So I have a 2016 Mazda CX-5 Touring AWD with the optional Bose sound system. This morning, I had a problem where my EPB was stuck (presumably due to cold temps out) and I had disconnected my battery and reset my ECU (hold gas pedal w/ON ignition) to fix that.

But now my sound will cut out a few minutes after turning the car on. It’ll play at regular quality for a few minutes then cut out, my iPhone will still working fine on CarPlay. I tried with normal radio and it does the same thing. I discovered that sound keeps playing but I have to turn it up to 40 at least to hear anything and it only comes from the center speaker behind the display on the dash. I investigated further and found that my Bose Autopilot and Centerpoint options have completely disappeared too. Not greyed out, just gone? I’m wondering if anyone has any insights on this issue, thanks!

Try resetting the infotainment system. It's a 3 key combo, search this forum for the sequence.

Looks like it's time for the 2015 Tourings to start having problems with the Infotainment system.

Last night I came out of a restaurant started the car and waited for the flash drive to resume playing.

All I got on the screen was the big square box with the "X" denoting mute. I tried to unmute, nothing happened but if I turned the little round button next to the Command knob it would increase/decrease the volume. Nothing I hit would get rid of the "X". Drove to my next stop and checked the backup camera, that was still working. Removed the flash drive and shut the car off. The "X" would not go away even with the car off. Took about 3 minutes for it to finally turn off. Came back about 10 minutes later, started the car and everything was fine. Something weird with the flash drive or USB port.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again here.

Both of my Mazdas, a 2016.5 CX GT and a 2016 MX Club have the original firmware and both have ZERO issues.

I occasionally use the Nav and I listen to music via flash drives almost exclusively. No problemo.

I have the original firmware in my 16 also. Couple years ago I had a glitch where the radio wouldn't play but it went away after the car was shutdown and restarted. Saturday was the first time I experienced an issue with the infotainment since then.
In 10 years 2 problems that cleared after a reboot.

So I fixed the issue. I tested for codes in the test screen and noticed a code that basically said something like “complete amplifier failure- electrical failure,” I figured it had something to do with low voltage (there’s a very similar DTC code that actually that’s triggered by low voltage) and since that’s why the electronic parking brake acted up. I bought a new AGM battery and jumped it for safe measure and it worked! I know a strange process but I no longer get my music cut off and my Bose Autopilot and Centerpoint options came back.
