CV joint issue?

I have an '08 GT-S w/MT,with 70K+ miles.
Noticed a loud "thumping"noise coming from the left front if there isn't any load on the drivetrain.
Hard ot explain' but if I am under throttle there isn't any noise. If I coast the noise starts.
At first I thought it may be the tires since I just switched over the the snows, but there isn't any steering wheel vibration.
Also noted that the noise seems to diminish when I start to apply the brakes. Rotor warp?
Reminding me a bit of what started to happen right before the stupid ABS/traction control sensors started going out.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Is the thumping noise cyclic with tire rotation? If it were due to warped rotors, your brake pedal would pulse when you apply the brakes. Worn CV joints usually click when you're making a turn. I also doubt it's the tires or tire, unless your exhaust sound masks the thumping sound under power (a sound that can be heard while coasting).
