Notice while I had the CX up on ramps today that CV joints are Ford part. Just an observation. I wonder how much Ford content is in rest of vehicle.

That's it I'm trading mine in for a Toyota before my CV joints go at 100,000 miles.

:-)

My old '96 Explorer 5.0L AWD still keeps ticking without any major issues. I know just kidding but this only reinforces for me. I've had good luck with Ford products myself.

It was just a curiosity to me with Mazda so distanced to Ford these days.

They still joint-operate a plant in Thailand making trucks and passenger cars for the Asian market, where the Mazda designed B-pickup/Ford Ranger still exists. Could be this part comes from one project or another. Might even be the same part from the previous-gen Mazda6/Ford Fusion/current CX-9.

It's amazing how much Ford design was actually done by Mazda.

Since Ford owned Mazda for a while, its no surprise.
Heck, the CX-9 has the 3.7L Ford engine.
The CX-5 was Mazda's first ground up orginal design since break up from Ford.
Mazda could have made these parts in japan for Ford and Mazda vehicles.

I wouldn't say owned. They just had a ~33% controlling share at the peak of the joint... Had.
