Custom Tunes for AP users now available

:
Mazda Speed3
It seems I worded my last posting poorly so it got deleted. I have been the Cobb sea level test for for a while now and the highly regarded tuner that has been doing my tunes has just opened a shop in Tigard Oregon. He has the ability to do custom tunes for the MS3's and will be offering that service. I just thought I would share that with you all since so many are on the fence about the AP until a custom tune becomes available.

Kick ass man! I live in albany so its only about an hour and a half away. Whats his number, i wanna do this soon! And dumb question, but are his tunes pretty effective?

Tim's email is sales@surgelinetuning.com

I am in Vancouver and plan on getting dyno tuned by him as well.

PDXImportRacer is puting down 290whp/~315tq on 16.5psi! Very conservative, and a decent amount of power. Tim is very well know in the Subie community and is flown around the US to tune cars.

In a nutshell, yes, his tunes are very effective.

damn that's to far to go for a tune..... this is going to make the AP a lot popular when more shops can start tuning our cars. So when they tune you can have different maps installed on the ap and by just pluggin the ap into the car and then just switch maps?

Ehh not quite that much. @16.5PSI I am making about 280whp/300tq. There will be a grand opening BBQ and dyno day very soon. Keep checking in for a time and date.

He will be offering different maps for a cost very shortly.

sweet. with custom maps are you able to delete fuel cut and up boost? that's my main focus when i get tuned and want to make sure where or how i get tuned my car has a way of upping the boost. i want to stay away from bcd and mbc

wait, i didn't think an end user tuning was available. how come we dont have the option to do our own custom tunes.

Tim has worked closely with Cobb and is one of there premier tuners. He uses a hex editor to do the tuning. Cobb doenst have the ProTuner or RaceTuner tools developed yet.

ah i see. ive done some hex editing on a DSMs but not as knowledgeable as i would like. could u shed some light on what he uses? do you happen to know if this is how cobb does it too? I wonder how hard it would be to make a UI program than...hmmm

Bah, youve thrown so many different numbers at me throughout the process I guess I forgot what your current numbers were.

Regardless, great results for 1psi increase over stock.

Where are the gains being made with such a modest increase in boost? Timeing, leaner fuel curves?

You will only need an AP for Tim to be able to tune the car. The AP is used to transfer the tunes from pc/laptop to the car via flash.

Tim has already received many tune requests. He will be replying to all of them sortly but he has to go out of town for a couple days. The shop is almost completely cleaned and getting ready for customers on Mon. There will be a little bit of construction that may slow some thing down but Tim wants to get to all of you. Please be patient.
