Custom Trunk Speaker Housing

Hey guys:

I have a Bandpass box in my trunk with 2 twelve inch Orions in it. I was wondering how could I get, if it's even possible, get these dual speaker custom jobs in the rear of my car like I've seen here and there throughout the forums? I'm killing serious trunk room with that box and I would like to replace it with something that more eye-catching and practical.

I hope you understand what I'm trying to ask, I don't think that I'm doing a great job at explaining it. I know that when you open up the back door on an MP5 you'll see the two speakers angled towards the middle but facing you.

Thank all of you for your help!!

This would be a better question asked in the Car Audio forum. But basically, you will need to have a custom box built or you could try to build one yourself.

I wish I could say that I have skill like that to build one, although I'm very handy I would need to get one built for me.

thats just some custom fabrication... most of the high-end audio shops can do it... price around to get a good deal.. and check to see a "resume' " (pics of past projects/cars they did, and equipment/parts they use)

Good deal, I'll just go around and see what's good!

Take care...

Unless you have a good amount of desposable cash ($1000+) don't even mention fiberglass. The best way to get a good looking setup for cheap is to make a simple, sealed box and then make a bueaty board to flush it in. It usualy only costs around $300-$400 to do it.

All in all if I want something nice it will cost me, which is understandable. I'll keep looking around and see what I can find. Thanks guys.

It IS DIY-able in fact I think I've got half of what you're talking about goingon in my hatch right now. IT's been taking me some time as I'm cautious and don't really have any big chunks of time to devote to it, but it IS very doable yourself. I've never touched the stuff before, and I think I'm coming along quite nicely. Watch my progress here.. http://protege5.com/vbb225/showthread.php?t=59808 Actually the Caraudio section is kind of blowing up with glassing lately, lots of nice setups beng pieced together. There's a few writeups floating around too.

I should note that making a mirrored setup might be tricky as the hatches aren't exactly symmetrical unless you want to put them right up against the back of your rear seat. And fiberglass is some impressive stuff, but I recommend that you make as much as possible out of wood, then just glass in the details.

Another thing worth mention. You're prettymuhc cementing a swap to sealed which will mena a bit less boom, but likely (depending on your previous box) cleaner bass. Mine's not entirely done yet, but here's where I'm at at the moment.

It doesnt cost that much...I had a shop make me a quality FG box for two 12" solobarics with an amp tray and the cap molded into the box for $500(including the price of the cap)

Pics?

Keep in mind I am talking properly sanded, primed and painted Fiberglass. Not a carpeted baflle of MDF.
