Mazda Protege's have 2 cats.

look at it like this (IIRC).

motor-stock exhaust manifold-cat - downpipe-midpipe with cat- resinator- tubing under car to mufler at the back.

That is the Prote exhaust. The header replaces the exhaust manifold and first cat,

Sounds good, I just ordred an OBX header. As far as I know theres no fitment issues either so it sounds good. I really only need one cat anyways right? lol Its still all one piece though right? Does the stock header have a cat on it somewhere? Because I havent really looked under my header cover in a while but it looks like its a big ass piece.

OBX are great for the price, the only thing I worry about with their header is the coating. Apparently rust doesn't take long to start at the welds. Easily solved, however, with jet hot coating or the like :)

Looks expensive and complicated, anything else I could do?

It will protect your header for life instead of having to replace your header in 5 years due to rust. Its real simple. box it up and send it to them. They send it back all nice & shiney and ceramic coated. Then you install.

That 2nd pic was the day I installed it. I haven't polished or done anything to it. The 1st pic was a year later without ever polishing it.

If I polished it then it would be shiney again. but it will never discolor. It will always stay gray unless I polish it.

go to www.jet-hot.com to get an estimate.
