Cross Drilled Rotors

Hi guys,

People have been wondering why we do not have Brembo Cross drilled rotors and only OEM Mazda Cross drilled rotors instead. The reason is very simple. According to Brembo USA (1-800-325-3994) they do not have any applications for P5s or MP3s. Infact they have no specific application for Proteges beyond 2001. There are people selling these so called "Brembo" cross drilled rotors online. However, you must be warned that they are probably taking another application and fitting it to the Protege. I am not saying it does not work, but just that it is not specific for the P5 or MP3. Once Brembo actually releases rotors for our application, then we plan on bringing you Brembo rotors, but as of right now there is no such application.

I just wanted to give you guys the heads up

There have been no real changes to the bolt pattern on a five lug Protege after 2001. And the four lug pattern I don't think is made anymore.

If Brembo makes brake rotors that fit the five lug pattern on a 2001 then they will fit the 2002, 2002.5 and on until Mazda changes the bolt pattern.

That can very well be true. But, what I am saying is that we will not sell you a product that is not specified for your car, and claim that it is, which other people are doing. Brembo will not certify that taking a rotor designed for older Proteges will work on a P5, so any problems that may occur, they will not take responsibility. Also, if it is a direct fit, would Brembo not certify the product for P5s since there is such a huge market out there ? There must be something that is not exact, otherwise they would just say that P5s use xxx application, rather than tell it's customers that there is no application available. Remeber P5s have a different weight than the 2001 Proteges.

But they run the same brake sizes...

I would bet Brembo doesn't want to commit to saying they don't fit because they haven't tried to fit them themselves. That is a good move on their part.

I see what you are saying about not wanting to sell something that isn't garunteed to fit, and that's cool.

I'm just saying that the brake rotors that fit the 2001 five lug bolt pattern should be the same for 2002 and on until the new version of the Protege (Mazda 3) comes out.

We are here to warn members. Since we are an authorized vendor for Brembo, and we do not want bad things happen to them.

We are talking about brakes here, guys!! DO NOT fool around with it.We are not Brembo, they must have their reason of not having to use the same part number as the older Protege.

Until Brembo USA release the approval of the same part's number of the older Protege or releasing the new part number for the MP3 and MP5, we will be selling ONLY the Mazda OEM cross drill ones.

Always remember. Play safe !!
