Protege5
My 02 Mazda Protege 5 just died in the middle of the intersection. It has a full tank of gas and no warning lights came on. We could not jump it. It has a good battery and will crank over but not start. My scanner returns an error message when I connect it, so I have no idea what the issue could be.
It blew the 10 Amp Engine fuse but a new fuse is working in that spot.
I have no idea what to look for. It was running good until it wasn't running at all.

Without a proper scan tool and diagnostic, there's no telling what could be wrong. At best, check for spark, check for fuel. Your scanner gets an error message? No comm with the computer is not a good thing.

Some things to check would be fuel pump and fuel pump relay. How old is the pump? Might need a new one if its super old. The relay is under the hood under the black cover next to the battery. Those are known to fail. Also, good idea to add some dielectric grease to the relay they also show signs of getting hot. How does the cam and crank sensors look? Any damage to what you can see? I had the wires chaff behind the power steering pump going down to the crank sensor. It would short out against the metal and the car would cut off. These are things to look for along with trying to get the OBDII to read for any codes.
