CR-V recall, gasoline odor inside cabin

:
2016.5 CX-5 GT
co-worker bought a brand new CR-V about a month ago,
my first time riding in it, nice car but after awhile I started smelling gasoline ??
He was so used to it that he was immune to the smell LOL

I told him it was absolutely not normal... get that fixed asap, gasoline vapor is a carcinogen, who knows how long he's been huffing that crap without even realizing it

we got back to the office and did a google search and sure enough there's a class action lawsuit...

Mostly certainly due to the direct injection system. 100% not normal. Do you smell it in the car with the windows up??

Is it from the injection system or the evaporation system? People still topping off with gasoline after the pump clicks off is a major cause of issues.

I am suing Honda. I could smell fumes in my office while browsing crvforums.com.
Time to Texas hammer now!!! Protect your rights, lefts and center's. ( No dual meaning intended. Pls fwd all complains to barbqinsidecrv.com)

Good to know. My wife's turn, to replace the 09' CRV.

The 2009 model has a completely different engine - the K24 with port injection. Very good and reliable motor.

It could be that, but Buzzman12 mentioned a huge recall in China in regards to the direct injection system diluting the engine oil, so I am 99% certain it is an injector issue.

I also think with the turbo charging and direct injection premium fuel should be used. However, that would be a turn off to most consumers for a non luxury/sports car so they stick with 87 which is more prone to the LSPI issue. I suspect Honda isn’t dealing with this very well and is using extra fuel to combat it too much.

If it is an fuel injection issue then that translates in my thinking to a very dangerous situation.

Have we seen anything definitive that points to fuel injection as the problem? I am aware of fuel dilution with the ED engine but this may be a separate issue.

This doesn't pertain to us...moving

this topic sure does apply to potential CX-5 owners looking through the forums trying to decide between this or the s*** cr-v with very obvious injector issues. its quite clear to me that honda has had very little experience building their 4 cylinder motors over the past 15 years. the K series engines found in just about every single honda from the early 2000's up until the introduction of the 1.5T is a rather good engine, but honda does not do any sort of updates to their motors like Mazda does because they know that the customers will just keep coming in... same as toyota. Toyota doesnt really care anymore, so they just invested in Mazda which has clearly devoted practically all of their resources on developing the most excellent engine and transmission pairings you can find in this price category by a long shot. look what happened with Honda's first implementation of direct injection technology Vs. Mazda's (which was actually back in 2006 with the mazdaspeed engines) the information speaks for itself. the 2.5L Skyactiv engine is an absolutely excellent design that has enjoyed practically zero issues over the years. we havent even heard of anyone with head gasket issues.

also, lets not forget that Direct injection isnt even CLOSE to being a new technology. the 1960's 3.8L inline 6 Mercedes SL had direct injection to help keep temperatures lower during endurance track use!
