Got lucky enough to get a day off....Finally...so I decided to install the CP-E Turbo inlet pipe that I picked up a few weeks ago. Now since I have three kids, my profanities are kept to a minimum due to the wifey (encourage ... but for this one, all I can say is holy shiet! As many of you mentioned, when I removed the factory inlet pipe, it was not secure on the turbo whatsoever which I'm sure wasnt helping me. And like you all mentioned, I found that removing the intercooler, battery, and battery tray were very helpful. I also decided to swap in a new K&N drop in into the OEM Airbox. I also took off the snorkel and cut a hole in the front of the lower airbox resonator (as mentioned in numerous posts here on the forum). After everything was all wrapped up, I took it for a drive. Spooled faster, felt faster and sounded better. I even have that Semi truck turbo whine....kinda cool if you ask me. I know that many reviews have been done on this piece and other variations, I just wanted to express my opionions and say thanks for all of you on this forum who post and give new comers such as myself the tips and trick to get things done a little bit easier.

dude get the short ram intake! If im correct i think that pretty spool noise will get prettier and louder!

yes, this is very true. i played around with the stock airbox alot when i first got the car and i found no matterwhat you do to it, it still cant compare to open filter short ram setup.

recently i switched from the cpe nano to the cobb sr. (for ap maps purpose) i went back to the stock box for a lil. same deal, k and n filter modded box, and wow, what a difference.
sound wise in comparison you can barely hear it with the stock box modded. with the cpe it was loud and clear even with the windows up. the car felt noticeable different. slower response, and a lil less umph.
now with the cobb sr, its back to all those wonderful turbo noises and an extra kick in the pants.

you gotta hand it to mazda though. it is pretty impressive how they can cancel out all that whistling, and wooshing. but man does it kill power.

pick up an sr intake to compliment that cpe tip. you wont regret it.

as matter of fact. my cpe nano is up FS if you interested.

shameless plug(wiggle)

ok now to be fair have u tried running a sr map with the nano... cuz and sri is an sri is an sri... for these cars the difference is miniscule... apposed to the CAI which seem to place the MAF anyone as long is its not where the competitor put it lol

the Inlet pipe though is indeed da bomb... the other manufacturers seem to go metal... which seems kinda silly... since the turbo is gonna make it into a an interwarmer of sorts... the silicon/nylon ply construction of the inlet makes it an insulator of sorts... i can touch my intake as soon as i stop my car an no where is it hot except the IC and intake manifold... everything leading to the turbo feels room temp at worst
