CP-E Standback

Just wondering if anyone has tuned this car with the above mentioned tuning solution. Would like to see what most of you have been coming up with and what maps work best.

What mods did you tune with and if you would like to submit your maps that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

what is good for someone else may not be good for you. lots of things come into play with a good tune. mods, temp, elevation, humidity. dont use someone elses map. tke the cat and software to a COMPETANT dyno shop, and let them do their thing. in the end you spend $150 or so, but you have a tune for YOUR car not some other guys.

^150.oo were you getting your tuning done at? your looking at atleast 2-3 hours and if you lucking you'll get 100 bucks a hour

most places i've been to are $75/hour, i figure it should not take more than 2 hours. boost, A/F, Timing there is not a whole lot to mess with.
walk in tell the to set the standback at 18 psi.... all they need to do now is adust fuel/timing. nothing to it. honestly i would do it myself .........if i owned a dyno !

newbie question.....i tho the standback come with base map for the ms3 or ms6...why do u still need to tune the a/f and timing??

Yeah with base, for the most part with one map @ 15psi and the other @ 17psi with boost holding past 6k rpms. Everything else is pretty much stock untill you start changing things on your own.

changing things mean air/fuel timing rite? and the tuner know how to tune it? what more benifit(hp) u can get more outta changing those things??

Alot, thats the whole purpose of a tuning solution. I just don't have the time or means to do this with a professional. Here in Miami, the only place I found that tunes wants 225 an hour plus dyno pulls. WTF...

ok...im really confused...never done or talk about ecu tunes to any of my old cars....so i have no clue how it work.....so the cpe standback base map only raise/hold the boost higher?? and thats what make people with the standback right now faster?? the base map isnt alrite lean out our rich pig???

Your boost at the moment cuts out at 55 or 58k rpms and also fluctuates like crazy. With the standback as is without changing anything else but boost holds psi through the whole power band all the way to redline.

We already burn rich as hell. But when you get up to 17 and higher psi you might want to go a little leaner in your a/f's...

you will actually get more power from adding timing and removing extra fuel, than what you get from the added boost. 2 extra psi is worth maybe 20HP . you can easily get 30 more with fuel /timing adjustments.

Yes you will need help. I would suggest haveing a professional install it unless you know how to solder or crimp using heavy duting crimps.

is it really that hard ? its just wiring. i was expecting this to like an hour project. i'm sure the instructions tell exactly what to cut and splice/solder, right ? i install radios in cars all the time, so maybe it just sounds easier to me .

I have a printed copy of the directions. It's not hard at all. They are very thorough. I even popped off my ECU connectors to see what was what. It tells you exactly what wire and shows detailed photos of it step by step. The biggest hurdle through the whole install is stripping the factor ECU wire and not cutting through it.

Its not that hard I just ment that it would be a good idea if you had a friend or somebody to help confirm your work. You know to check or just help period. Anyway, if you guys have any questions please feel free to ask. I have studied these instructions back and front and know them by heart. But it is like Swamp said, its all pretty much in the instructions. Just check your work before you cut and or splice. I bought a wire splicer and cutter to make it easy from radio shack.
