cp-e Sponsored Cars take 2nd Place in Redline Time Attack East and West

As many of you know, cp-e has been sponsoring 2 mazdaSPEED3s in the 2009 Redline time attack season. Brian Alvarez in the West and Gary Fratianne in the East. Last weekend was the final redline time attack race of the season. And we are proud to announce that with determination, a lot of seat time, and some serious driving skills both placed 2nd in the Street FWD. Our congratulations go out to both drivers as 2nd place is not an easy feat. Both Brian and Gary were running cars with stock engines and basic bolt-ons against cars with engine swaps. You can find a personal blog of Brians trials and tribulations here. http://www.gtchannel.com/user_blog.php?uid=5291

How did they both place 2nd in the same class?

Redline Time Attack "Street Class" is broken down into a western region and an eastern region. There are 4 races that count towards each region championship. As a driver, you can compete in both eastern division races and western division races, but the points you accrue at each track only count for the division they fall under.

CP-e currently sponsors one driver in the eastern region and one driver in the western region, and they both finished the season in 2nd for their respective regions.

As far as I know, the street class is the only TA class that is set up this way. The modified and unlimited classes both accrue points on a national level for all 8 rounds.

ahhh I see now! Well great stuff then!!

I saw the red speed at Import Alliance in Nashville, he was schooling an EVO that day. Talked to his young son who new more about the Speed than most owners.

Wow, that Focus driven by Clint Boisdeau that Brian Alvarez has to race against is quick. I found a dyno chart from 2007 that the Focus numbers at ~270HP and ~250TQ with a turbocharged stage 2 2.0L, but I wonder what the weight is on that car since the Speed3 has +50TQ. Anyone know?

Congrats to the Speed3 drivers!

The Focus uses the same chassis right? Ford C2? Or is that the european Focus that shares the chassis. Or both - i dont know =/
