corksport race pipe help

I just finished installing the corksport race pipe and the exhaust is leaking from the doughnut. I got back under, noticed the race pipe flange and exhaust flange were not paralled and that the exhaust was leaking from the top of the pipe between the flange and doughnut. So, I loosened up the bolts and readjusted everything as best as I could, tighened it back up to about 2mm between the springs, started it up and it still leaks (but not as bad). Any ideas? The install was an absolute b**** and I am a little frusterated at this point. One of the hangers on the pipe would not fit into the rubber support no matter how hard I tried and I had to remove the cross brace to get the pipe out and in. I did notice that the exhaust side race pipe flange is not perpendicular to the pipe, is it supposed to be that way or is mine defective? I was also wondering if the doughnut would just settle in over time and the leak would go away?

my SU test pipe leaked with the stock catback gasket. I just bought another gasket off their website and works fine without leaks now.

I had a CS testpipe and had major leak issues. I tried everything and finally just got a SU testpipe which fits way better. My issue was the CS pipe's angle was wrong which forced it up to much where it meets the CBE. Check out my Car Domain page for pics. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2930373

i needa get me a su test pipe to replace the cs one that i bought (which didn't fit on my HKS cbe just like Albones...)

Yes! Damnit. (pissed) I noticed the angle between the flange and the pipe was not 90 degrees the second I took it out of the box, but of course trusted that it was correct. And like you said, once installed, it angles up where it meets the CBE and causes a leak up on top. I am so unhappy. I already spent 4 hours with it last night which is rediculous for a race pipe, but I am going to try putting a new doughnut in and bolting it back up. If anyone else has any other ideas or thoughts I sure would appreciate it.

I think you should ask for a refund and send the pipe back due to improper fitment. You're evidently not the first person with CS test pipe issues.

Get the SU test pipe, I've had no problems with mine at all.

idk, if you have a cbe then fitment issues might ot be their fault if they tested it on the stock ms3 exhaust. if its a stock exhaust then just call them or email them and im sure they wont have a problem helping you out. i dont think theyll have a problem helping either way. sucks you spent so long on it. mechanic work sucks sometimes. can turn the easiest task into what feels like an entire rebuild project. sorry to hear that. goodluck.

hey guys, i want to buy the test pipe, but i have not decided which one , CS or SU.

those who have had problem with the cs testpipe, what exhaust do you have?

Mine is MS exhaust 3".

And anyone who wants to sale it? brand and price?

with a 3inch exhaust, you'll probably be fine with either. cs has problems mating to the stock cbe. this is what happens.

so the mate is open at the top and it leaks. su is a great piece and hasn't had any real problems with leaking. 3inch exhaust, you'd probably be fine with either

yea i originally ordered the cs piece then heard about the problems, cancelled my order and got the SU one. i had a leak on the cat back side and just bought some bolts from lowes that were an inch shorter that let me get a tighter seal. no leaks.

sorry...couldnt remember if it was cstp to stock or cstp to aftermarket. thanks.

o.k. so if it probably wont work with the stock exhaust I can either send it back and buy a SU pipe or buy an aftermarket CBE. I can't decide right now, but if I lean towards the new exhaust side how confident are you guys that it will fix the issue and also what exhaust would you recommend?

Oh, and that is exactly what it looks like too. Not parallel and not cool.

d00d, i completely understand. this is unfortunately an issue with pretty much all of their race pipes. i would sell it to someone who has a 3" cbe and get the su pipe. OR, get a downpipe

This sucks balls. I have a new CS pipe sitting here for the past two months. Too bad I have an HKS CBE... might as well put the CS pipe for sale already.

I had no issues at all with my CS midpipe, then again I have their DP. So maybe it made the angle better for connecting to the stock catback.
