corksport exhaust problem

yea I should have clippered that... sorry it looks unkept (poke)

corksport just needs to change the muffler brand. it looks like the factory weld on the canister itself is failing. very subpar!

this is an N1 knockoff muffler by tsudo:

notice the thin and uneven welds where it is known to seperate on the CS version. it looks like some parts aren't even welded together! if this is typical of the quality of mufflers CS is using, many more will fail.

hm... mine is still brand new in the box, even wrapped up in the bubble wrap still, maybe i should just send it back and get a full refund? i'm thinking i might after all of these horror stories :(... i was defending them before, but now its getting a little rediculous...

whose muffler failed? we're talking about the resonator

and the failure was not at a weld point... look at the pictures

I doubt they'd give you a refund

maybe if you paid return shipping and a restocking fee

It's a shame to hear so these stories pop up of people having exhaust problems with CS. I have had mine over a year and it's still kicking. There may be a possibility that the process in making these changed which would cause for the exhaust leaks many are now facing.

eh, i'd be willing to pay shipping back to them, but not a restocking fee, i wasn't planning to put the exhaust on the car for awhile anyway, so i think i'll just wait and see how many more horror stories pop up, if a lot more people start having problems with their exhausts, i'll defintily be demanding a refund, i'm not going to use a peice of equipment that has been proven faulty by a number of different people...

CorkSport stands behind all our products. We are currently having a problem with a small percentage of the Protege exhaust systems. Some of the resonators broke at the weld point due to weak welds or over polishing. We have already taken steps to correct the problem. If it turns out more adjusments are needed then we will make them. We appologize for any inconvenience to our customers.

Any customer with a faulty exhaust will receive a warranty replacement. If a customer simply does not want to use the warrantied part then it will be the customers responsibility to sell or dispose of that part via E-bay or any other medium for selling unwanted items.

I am available M-F for anyone who wishes to contact me regarding this exhaust system or any other matter. I honestly invite any and all feedback so that CS may improve on our service and customer relations.

Once again, my appologies for any inconveniences any one has had with this exhaust. We greatly appreciate the patience some our customers have shown while we attempt to solve this problem.

Thank you,
Travis

Travis, could you be more specific on what steps have been taken?

Has the replacement section you sent me been updated or fixed in any way? If not, I would like to wait until this has been worked out to put it on my car. I really don't want another broken resonator.

just drive gently, I dunno

do you have your stock stuff just in case?

i would like it noted in this thread (with the date tag) that i do not plan on installing my exhuast any time soon due to warranty reasons, the reason i bought it before i planned on installing it was because of the discounted price and to help out some fellow protege owners and get the GB moving, i want it noted that if i encounter this problem in the future i do plan on holding you to your word and having corksport replace the section of pipe under warranty if any problems arrise, i will also email you about this but i also wanted to make sure i mentioned it here so i have a referance point just in case my exhaust decides it wants to go south...

thank you,

James

you want to get rid of the exhaust because someone else had a problem ? geesh, i mean, thats like everyone shipping back their mazda's because one had clunk. I have had my exhaust installed for well over a year now, NO issues, and LOVE it.

full refund nate? thats a bit much I mean come on, if they fix and send you the piece that broke, thats good enough, guess its just my .02. I just dislike when people get more than they deserve. Sure its a pain in the butt to replace, but its worth it to me. It'd bother me too, but the positives outweigh the negatives on this exhaust. I love the thing....

Jhew- WHY haven't you installed yours yet? hahah get off your butt and do it ;) ;)

:D

To be fair, pdh, it's not because "someone" had a problem, there are 4 of us now. I think it's a very valid response to be cautious. I do hope it's a limited occurance. The reason I asked for a full refund was that in earlier conversations, they said they'd replace my resonator section, but they did not indicate that anything would be any different.

Now that a few more of us have exhibited the same issues, they are making efforts to correct the problem, which I applaud them for. I do apologize to CS for saying things that would make their company look bad. I believe they want to make things right so they can be proud of what they are selling.
