Ok, so whats the word on this baby?? Looks like we can order it from the site now. For 825 till march something, then its gonna be 875. Lets get some discussion goin on this. I personaly can't spend the 1500 for wagners unit right now.

Opinions? Anyone on here been the tuning guinea pig??

wait till the microtech LT4 comes out it should be in the $600.00 range and it will give you full control of the fuel system

eta on that??? only think i dont like about the corksport setup is that its chipped...u cat tune it freely at least thats what it sounds like....if thats true then its way over priced :(

Zach, from my previous experience with Nick (perfworks) and his reputation in the Merkur/viper community I would hold out for it. I haven't even looked into the others.

It's like if Wings West is cominging out with a hood...you don't look into the APC unit because it comes out first or is cheaper. If you know the other builds quality products you just hole out for it!!

FYI, I got my MP3 ecu and my wife gave me a $2K budget with which to buy my exhaust and compter!! YEAH!

but the thing i comin from is that honestly i have no need for a setup like what perfworks is creating...i dont plan to push for big whp and i dont plan to make monster hp..i just want to clean up my fuel and/or timing and fix what mazda couldnt get right

isn't that what the flash was for :D? j/k

well i think it is a little pricey. the dyno #'s did nothing for me. 24 hp at the crank is not that good. i think it needs more work. i glad someone is working on the pcm tuning.

thanks justin

$825 for 25 horsepower is expensive, don't get me wrong ($33/horse) but it's not entirely unreasonable.

A turbo-back exhaust is going to cost about the same, even more for some models, and will probably net you less than that (15-20HP).

And everyone who is mentioning how the VW/Audi 1.8T chip is so much cheaper....think about it. There are so many 1.8T engines out there, and more are made each year. That engine is in several VW/Audi models....

Then you have the MSP. Less than 5000 produced, and none more will ever be made. If a company wants to make a profit, they're going to have to charge more.

I personally am going to wait it out for a little bit, and see if any new options come along....if not, I'm probably going with the Corksport.

dont forget its 25hp with a boost controler, can this unit be tuned by the user ? it says it can be done by specified outlets

yeh i just got of the phone with terry from spool and he and i talked about the computer. he said this will be the best computer for the msp. the companys invovled in maken this computer are some of thebest around. just my 2 cents.

thanks justin h.

$33/horse seems cheap when you consider that people are paying $100+/horse for the Ion exhaust. :D

I think your confusing some Nicks here

The only reason they say you'd have to bring it back to a tuners shop to be adjusted isn't due to any special equipment that the tuner would have that you wouldn't, it's that the piggyback is an UniChip. The UniChip has special software that the authorized Tuners are not allow to distribute with the ems. The EMS is really popular with the Porsche and BMW guys. From what I hear it's a really good system. It's also small and compact compared to the AEM. I think the main reason the AEM is so expensive (and badmouthed by tuners) is that it doesn't need a tuner to adjust it. Once it initial is setup it automatically adjusts for any mods you make afterward, and/or can be tuned by the user with a laptop. Atleast that's my understanding. I definitely could be mistaken.
