2000 Mazda Protg
Just bought a used 2000 Mazda Protg yesterday, and today noticed a coolant leak. No white smoke or any symptoms of a blown head gasket, checked hoses and all seem to be tight / not leaking. I have reason to believe it is the water pump, as its coming out right by the belt, by the bottom of the head case if im correct on my parts. Was wondering what everyones thoughts are on this. My belt is also squealing, assuming coolant is dripping on to the belt. Also was looking to get some price ranges for a new water pump, and if i should take any further action other than so.

Hi, I had the same problem with mine the first time i changed the timing belt and water pump ( was foolish and re-used a gasket ). Mine was leaking out the bottom of the timing belt cover by the crank alot.

If you don't have oil in your coolant then I would guess it was the water pump/gasket.
