I've been in the market for a newer four door vehicle as of late for my fiance and I, and recently ran across the Mazda2. I really like all the reviews I've read throughout the magazines that have tested it and the reviews of owners here. I ALMOST bought a 2009 Dodge Caliber SRT4 right before this, but city gas mileage under 25mpg even with the MS1k I bought steered me away from it, so I sold the CSRT parts I bought and have decided to move towards something more economical as far as mileage and reliability.
As far as background, I currently own two modified Ep3s (one with an a2 swap and JRSC and one with IPS cams, ported top, putting 246whp @ 8800rpms), now the reason I really like the Mazda2 is that if looks like a mini Ep3 with better gas mileage, better handling, and the look just puts a smile on my face. Anyways, I'm thinking of compiling all of my modifications from both Ep's onto one, and then looking for a more suitable daily driver with 4 doors and that could be suitable for future family needs.
I guess I'm just curious what owners of former sporty compacts (or sports cars in general) think of the car, how the room is for 6' passengers in the back, kids in the back, and how reliable they have been for everybody. Thanks in advance and I have LOTS of questions other than these as well as far as basic modifications (I dunno if i can live with 100 crank horsepower).
