hey everyone

I am looking to get rims, the ones i had in mind are
18" motegi mr7. Does anyone know if these will fit on a '02 P5?

I read Rishie's fitment recipe and it is just jiberish to me.....I am not even exactly sure what 'offset' means and how it affects the car. Any help that anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.:(

Higher offset means the wheel will sit closer in towards the car. The lower the offset, the farther it will stick out of the wheel wells and past the fenders and your body work will cut up your tires.

Protege5s have +50mm stock on a 6" wheel
MP5/Mazdaspeed have +55mm stock on a 7" wheel

So, you need to stay as high as possible with the offset.
+45mm on a 7" wheel is the minimum for a Protege5.

The Motegi MR7 won't fid. Find some different wheels.

Enkei RP-F1 comes 18x7.5+48mm
OZ Superleggera comes 18x7+45mm
5Zigen FN01R-C comes in 18x7.5+48mm
5Zigen Hyper 5ZR comes in 18x7.5+48mm
5Zigen Copse comes in 18x7.5+49mm and 19x7.5+48mm

Even if the wheel shop says a certain wheel will fit, make sure to check the numbers, and have them test fit it on the car to make sure. If they won't fit it for you then go somewhere else.

You could try calling up Wheels Direct and ask for Ben .. say you are with the Toronto Protege Club ( toprotege.com ) .. he is the club's main contact there.

It's starting to make sense now. I called Ben and he seems to know his stuff and was pretty helpful.
Thanks for the info. :p

Well that is good news. How do you like the mr7's? Would you reccomend them? Also, how do you find the prices for rubber? Is it alot more than for say 17" size. Sorry for all the questions but i'm pretty new to the car world, spent the last few years playing with motorcyles.

hey no problem ..and if anyone gives you s*** .. tell them to **** off because there was a day when they did'nt know the answer to that and had to be told ..so ask away bud ..also welcome aboard ... and as far as the wheels are conserned for the P5 they are quite heavy and slows it down very noticably and I mean they look great and all but that i must say is the only downer .. and as far as the tires .. i will NEVER go to another tire .. they were well worth the $$ and i have a guy that can pretty much beat anyones prices so for $620 USD including mounting , balancing , and life time free rotation also there financing deal is awesome i got there card and got approoved for $400.00 on the spor tso i came up with $220.00 and the $400.00 is 90 same as cash 0% financing so i had to pay $133.00 a month which is basically $67.00 a paycheck for me and since i get paid twice a month it was easy as s***. These tires stick like glue and ride great so id go for it and if you meed a deal on the wheels i got a guy that gets them at an awesome price so let me know if you are gonna get them and if so ill check the price for them and if its lower then I'll get you his info
