Conclusion to Yesterday

Mazda called me this morning at 830 to inform me that 1st and 2nd gear were completely locked up and seized. They are removing the transmission as I type, ordering a new unit to replace the old.

Anyone ever hear of this happening?

someon on here had a second gear replaced on there speed6, did you get your car new or with a bunch of miles on it maybe someone abused the crap out of the sycros

Nope brand new.. 6 miles.... And i havent truley beat on it.. i drive slow.. lol

probaly just a mistake when they manufactured the transmission, atleast its under warrenty. still sucks.

recently ive been having this noise come out of my tranny while in idle with my foot off the clutch. when i push on the clutch it goes silent like something isnt disengaging fully or something when i release the clutch. it almost sounds like one of those coin things in the middle of the mall where you drop a dime down it and it rolls around and around and around....it sort of sounds like that but not as dramatic. anyone......or am i crazy? im thinking of going to the dealer but i want to know if anyone else experienced any noise? it does it louder when the tranny is warmed up.

You will very likely be getting your throwout bearing replaced before too much longer.

why?

second gear was popping out of gear and thrid had minor damage to it. i think it was me i can remember when i didnt shift 2nd in all the way and it grinded nasty. 3rd i think from mishifts but they fixed it because the car was under 12k miles

Mine did the same thing then it seemed like it stopped then all of a sudden 2nd gear dicided it didn't want to carry a load anymore. Its been in the shop now for 2 1/2 weeks they keep telling me they need to order new parts .

Are they replacing your whole transmission ? they are replacing 2nd and the syncros in 2nd and 3rd plus the bearings in 5 and 6th in mine its been 2 and a half weeks now .

Mine did the same thing then it seemed like it stopped then all of a sudden 2nd gear dicided it didn't want to carry a load anymore. Its been in the shop now for 2 1/2 weeks they keep telling me they need to order new parts .

yea it seems like it doesnt disengage all the way. i hear the tranny spinning as fast as the motor when i even rev a little in idle. im going for an 830 appointment with the dealer on monday. i ******* hope it doesnt last 2.5 weeks!!!!!! its my everyday driver! oye.

3 weeks today still don't have my car back they are throwing in the aux port adapter for free now since its been so long.......

I'm still not happy but they did decide to replace the whole transmission thank god..

You will very likely be getting your throwout bearing replaced before too much longer.

the speed tech said it was the throw out bearing. thats what i thought it was too. he said its just that loud sometimes depending on what company the bearing was from. he said the rx-8's sound like the tranny is f-ed. even brand new youd say something was wrong. so i guess its alright. just loud. well see about that one.

ya i dont know about it just being loud cuz it (suppose) to be.. i just dont think they want to do the work.. plus with what happened to me at that dealership were not gonna name names im never going back to them for anything again... not changing the oil when they were suppose to and then charging me..im damn lucky i only went 700 miles before i decided to change it again after all if i wouldve went another 3000 i wouldve been ******. nice royal purple in there now clean filter too..(drive)
