Complete turn off a DSC and traction control?

Hey folks:

Just wondering if it is possible to turn off the DSC and traction control completely on the MS3? I know in the RX-8, if you push the DSC button you can turn that off (but not the traction control). If you push and hold the DSC button in the 8, you can completely turn off the system.

Was wondering if this is possible in the MS3?

TIA...

Well I went out and tried the push and hold like on the RX-8 and it doesn't seem to have the same affect. Only the "DSC OFF" light illuminated. One thing I noticed. When I pressed and held, the DSC OFF light came on after about 2 secs. I kept holding and after about 10 secs, the DSC OFF light turned back off. I kept holding and nothing happened. I then released and pressed the button again, and the DSC OFF light would not come on no matter what I did. I had to turn the car off and back on to be able to turn DSC OFF again.

According to a mazda tech that helped design the system it is not possible to completely turn off the DSC/traction control. The button only serves to lessen its effect. I read this on another forum, I would post a link but the B.S rules here will not allow me too. I thought this forum was for sharing info.

Like RPI, I also tried this and thought that it was slightly peculiar that when you hold it down for at least 10 secs. it won't allow you to turn it on or off after that without restarting the car. When it first happened I thought that it actually might have turned it off entirely. Then after stepping on the gas hard, the traction light started blinking at me. Oh well.
On another note, you can do something cool when hold down the trip reset button while turning the ignition to accessory. You'll see a bunch of switchable parameters pop up in the odometer display. Not sure what any of them mean thought lol. If anyone knows what this is please enlighten me!

If you hold the button too long it will lockout the ability to turn DSC off. Its a safety feature incase the button gets stuck, etc. so yes if you hold it, it will turn itself back on and not allow you to turn it off until the next drive cycle.
