Colder Plugs = No Hesitation? Suspicious..

Thats what I do, just about everytime I fill up I reset my ECU, keeps the hesitation down and my car just runs a lot better, and I have the FPR kit, the FCD kit, and the colder pulgs.

Out of curiousity do you pull the fuse on the ecu or do you disconnect the battery? If you disconnect the battery it must be a pain to keep setting up the head unit.

Disconnect the battery, and quite honestly at this point I have all the settings on the headunit memorized so it takes me a whole 20seconds to set up the headunit. I don't use the fm radio at all cause I have sirius, I don't even set the presets and can't remember the last time I actually listened to regualr radio. I just set up the sound for the sirius and the CD player and I'm good to go, no big deal.

Thousamd Oaks is a awesome dealer too. I was thinking they would b**** about my mods but they praised it and did everything with a smile. they also cleaned my car for me :) what a nice surprise

yea i love the Thousand Oaks dealership, thats where I bought my car too. Nice Guys, and local.

If you disconnected the battery when you installed the plugs then that reset the ECU. It basically needs to 'learn' how to hesitate again. If this was the case the hesitation would come back in about 300-500 miles. Some ppl have been resetting the ECU periodically as a quick fix for the hesitation.
Absolutely right. If you recently reset it will take a bit for hesitation to reappear. Explain this to the tech if they give you probs.
But there should be no issue with just a flash.

Yea knowing my dealership, I dont think It will be a issue, but hopefully a tech wont drive it before the reflash.

On a side note, they had a blue and yellow MSP, as well as many rx-8s. Beautiful!!

Hey Stephanie, I talked to the service manager at Galpin he said he would flash my car. I didn't even have to prove any hesitation. I have an appt. for tomorrow morning to flash and install my auto dimming/compass/temp mirror....:D

Is there anyway to prove that they did do the flash, I mean since I am still breaking in the car I have not had the rpms high enough to notice the hesitation. Is there a computer print out I can request that proves they flash my car?

HELP!!!

Ok i just got off the phone with the dealership, they said they have to order me a whole new ECU! They said my car is NOT taking to the flash, and now it wont start. What should I say, is this BS? I dont understand, and neither does the tech manager, or the mechanic. Can anyone help explain this?

WOW, that's really strange. I was going to tell you that they flashed my car without a test drive because I had been waiting all day. They said my car took it very easily, but I have no idea how yours could reject it. As far as I know, it's just like downloading a patch...no reason why it shouldn't start. You said you changed your plugs, took out your MBC, & reset the ECU...did you have any other mods/changes still on there when you dropped it off?

The only thing I would think that could prevent it from starting would be an atmospheric BOV because of the stalling problems people have had. I'm clueless on this one.

alan not funny :( this makes me angry. I knew it wouldnt be simple. WTF my car wont start, and i get a rental focus.... again. Thanks Mazda

:( sorry steph. suxors. stupid whoever(s) that worked on your car.
