Cold Air Intake Question

I just bought a cold air intake and the dealer said because of the way it is mounted its in the wheel well, but located infront of the driver side wheel and seperated from it but they said its not a good idea to put this in because water may get in and cause water lock. I live in Canada so i do have snow and slush and rain. Is it still ok to install? Thanks for your help

YOu can either install a bypass, or, remove the longer half of the tube and run it as a short ram with the filter just behind the headlights

No real loss by running it as a short ram, that's how i personally run my Injen

People will say "BUT IT"S HOTTER IN THE ENGINE BAY"

but, honostly, when you're moving, fresh air is circulating in the engine bay too, and the intake piping goes through the engine bay from the CAI too

during wet spells run it like pro5 said....just use the upper part....but if it's dry run it as a cai

I just make life easy by leaving it as a SRI.

ALOT easier to get to the filter to clean at oil changes rather than having to get the filter out of the fender

unless your running through deep puddles while at a high rpm, youll be alright

In the Seattle climate a true CAI is just too much of a risk, we have crappy roads with no drainage and puddles are way too common. I like checking craigslist after big rainstorms, you find hydrolocked hondas everywhere.

i have an injen long ram, and i live up in vancouver b.c. and i know all about the wet weather. quite frankly i've had no probs with the water or hydrolocking my motor. Although i do have condom on the filter so that may help as well lols.

....though not gona lie it is a b**** to clean though.

I've never seen so many people on one site concerned about hydrolocking.

Don't drive your car through a lake and it should be fine.

I5 doesn't drain well, so when it rains moderately we get puddles, and puddles at 60 mph tend to splash

+1 all you need is a fairs size puddle and some speed and bam water is getting sucked in no problem lol stick with an SRI for safety and easy access as well. SRI FTW!!!!!!!!!!

Plus its not like CAI or SRI matters anyway, the only reason why people get it, is because of 1 reason :D

"THE HOWLING Sound."

not sure but ive seen lota diff comments bout that.
some say increase some say decrease...i guess i'll see once its arrived and installed.

haha I was just referring to the fact that once you hear that throaty noise that's it you're hooked so therefore the foot is to the floor every time you drive it hahaha causing the plummet in mpg. Although if driven normally there sure should be an increase :)

On your CAI you should have a heat shield at around the filter, also put a water resistant wrap on it, also you have all of the fairings under the car, not to mention the fender, the hood, etc. If you keep all of that intact then you're not going to have a problem.

These civic kids with hydrolocked engines tear their entire car apart to the point where they have gone from a DD car to a summer time dry weather only veh.

So if I have a CAI can I go to the car wash?

Gmac

haha yes you can go to the car wash, im actually headed there today to wash my car. hydrolocking is definitely a risk, but it isnt extremely high otherwise they wouldnt be sold as much, just be smart when driving in the rain and you should be alright
