COBB AP Help!! Spiking!!

I have a 2008 MS3 with a cobb sri, cobb tip, full turboback exhaust, turbosmart bpv and the Cobb AP. I am running the stage2 setting 93 oct. and I noticed that my turbo readings are spiking to 22 psi. The car will pop if I get on it sometimes when I get on it. Is this normal? I have a manual boost controller but I haven't installed it yet. Any recommendations as to what I should do? I've heard that installing the MBC can be tricky. I've heard that you have to cap off a lot of the turbo. I'm not quite sure how to lower the boost with AP. I have downloaded the Access Tuner Race to change it but I'm not that skilled after looking how complex the program is. What do I do to lower the boost so I stop spiking? Any help would be truly appreciated. Thanks!!
 
if you don't know how to tune then don't do it at all. Sounds like you're on your way to zoom zoom boom. My guess is the mbc will help, but until you put it on don't go WOT, or any rate of accelleration that spikes you that high
 
The Stage 2 OTS maps from cobb are meant to be used with a car that has a turbo-back with a high flow cat. Since there is basically no resistance in your exhaust I would suspect that is why you're getting the high spikes. I would try putting a less aggressive tune on the car, stage 2 91 octane or even jumping down to a stage 1 map just to play it safe.

A catless exhaust can cause higher than normal boost to occur. I think what you are calling a "spike" is just aggressive boost onset. Are you hitting boost cut at all? Try the stage 1 maps, that might help a bit. I would avoid the manual boost controller, they just don't work very well for a street driven car, mostly because they are not reactive. They will hit a single boost target in a single gear, which makes them great on racecars and drag cars and the like, but not so good on your street car that sees lots of different driving conditions. You just need some tuning for your setup.
