Cobb AP? Downpipe? or TMIC?

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and I'm finding myself in a bind as what to do next to my speed3. I've read up and down about what mods to get and it looks like a downpipe, upgraded TMIC, or the Cobb AP are my next choices and best "bang for your buck" mods. I already have the Cobb SRI, and I just wanted everyones thoughts on what I should do next. Only have the money for one of them, and they're all in the same general price range. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

what about getting a turbo inlet, motor mount and short shifter and shifter bushings... that will run you less then those and the car will feel a lot better not to mention turbo spools faster with the inlet :) just my .02

100% Accessport should be next. I'm running stage 1 and absolutely love it! Noticeable power increase all the way across the powerband, especially in the low end. In addition, once you have the AP youll be able to maximize the remainder of mods you add. When you get a downpipe, you flash stage 2 and look out! Also there is a stage 1 SRI map already available that will give you even more power. Plus, for whatever reason it seems like everyone is selling theres so you can pick one up pretty cheap.

My .02

Already have shifter bushings and rear motor mount, absolutely right that they are a must for the speed3, incredible difference.

I've thought about the Corksport DP, but I've heard things about it cracking. Also, I know it's dumb, but I want to go as much "cobb" as possible, so I was going to get the Cobb DP, which is significantly more money. Thanks for the input so far guys. I'm leaning towards the AP.

i was in the same boat. just watch the FS section and buy which one you come across the best deal for.
besides, you'll eventually end up with all of em anyway right. thats my excuse;)

you should cobb ap one of your last mods. you should have atleast an intake and a tbe before you get cobb ap. then youll see a big difference. the best would for you to have intake tbe and a fmic then put a stage 2 map in and thats a huge differnce..

yeh i would hold off on the cobb. Let them get their map situation under control and when that settles you can pick one up.

Test pipes, motor mounts, inlet, shifter bushings are all great. But if you just after the 3 you listed I would hit up the TMIC. Much easier install and the gains would be similar to downpipe. Not to mention you won't have to deal with smoking turbo or anything along those lines.

Hey Coyfish, I saw that you have the SU TMIC, just curious what you thought of it and if you got any of the finish options. And I am gonna hold off on the AP. Been hearing mixed reviews about their new maps.

I like my SU TMIC. I just got the cheapest natural finish and it looks pretty nice. Opposed to the ETS 3.25 however the performance is the same. Just the welds and finish on the SU is cleaner. For only 35 bucks extra for me it was worth it. The ETS doesnt look bad but the SU looks cleaner. Very obvious power increase. I can feel the power band coming on a bit earlier than with the stock TMIC as well. If you go TMIc make sure you have a boost gauge of somesort because I am spiking / holding 20/21 sometimes.

Although I already have an AP myself, I would recommend a test pipe or TMIC as your next mod. If you're looking for an inexpensive power mod then the test pipe is your best option. Be prepared for a touch more exhaust noise and rumble (quite nice actually once you get used to it). I've heard of more ppl having issues with a downpipe than a TMIC but both give decent gains although I reckon the downpipe would probably give the most real gains especially if you intend to get an AP or some other tuning device down the road.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you and actually have most of the mods I want already collected, just waiting for spring to come along and install them all at once. Already added the AP, test pipe and shifter pieces last year and currently have Cobb SRI, CPE motor mount, WeaponR torque dampener and a an ETS TMIC on the way ready to go.

I'd say go with the AP...especially if you don't already have a dashhawk or something to monitor/datalog. But maybe that's just me

I would go with the AP first. I did my DP before the AP and its just too tempting to rally the car with all that new power. Its kinda dangerous to run stage 2 without a tune. But take your chances if you will I guess....
