Hi,

I have a 2008 mazdaspeed 3 and the only thing upgraded in the engine is an intake and bov. I drive pretty hard and I wanted to know if I should upgrade my clutch I dont have many mods so I am not sure what stage I should get. Which would you recommend?

You probably don't need to upgrade your clutch unless you are going to be doing some more engine modifications to your car. If you want to upgrade your clutch though, I would say go with either the Spec stage 2 kit or Spec stage 3 kit. You can order them from pretty much any vendor, such as Protege Garage or Street Unit, and they are excellent upgrades.

However, you probably don't need to do this unless you are going to be sending a lot more power through the engine than it already has...the stock clutch isn't bad.

Before you upgrade the clutch I would recommend upgrading the stock rear motor mount, the shifter, the suspension, the wheels, or the intercooler. You could also invest in something like the COBB AP or the CPE Standback unit.

In summary:
1) You don't need to upgrade the clutch yet.
2) There are other more practical mods for your car at the point you are at in modifying it: the motor mount, the shifter, the suspension, the wheels, the intercooler, or a adding a tuner such as the COBB AP / CPE Standback.
3) If you absolutely WANT/NEED to upgrade the clutch, get the Spec stage 2 or Spec stage 3 kit from Protege garage or Street unit.

i wouldn't run a puck'd clutch on the streets.

i have the spec stage 3+ clutch and its wonderful. The engagment is nice, not too harsh, but you know its beastly compared to stock, and the pressure plate is much more stiff. You can feel it after long drives with stop and go in traffic.

still 100%, i love it.

i work at centerforce in prescott arizona and i recomend not buying em just my opinon
If you seriously track this car what options are there at this point speed3 specific? Also I have beaten my car purty good and have a little bit more horsepower than stock, and at 26000 she is holding up well. But it is no race clutch by any means. When it breaks, upgrade!
