Clunk fix in two weeks... is this new?

Mazdaspeed... of DOOM!
I had my car reflashed yesterday (awsome with a capital WOW) and inquired about my "damn clunking rear bushing". The tech knew all about it and said that Mazda finally developed correct bushings and a permanent fix will be available in two weeks.

Its even written on my service printout that the fix will be available in two weeks.

Did I just completely miss this information on the board? Or is this news?
 
Whoa! Now I will finally comment about the clunk. On my car it's bad! I can't wait for the fix!:D
 
I had received an Email from Scott Slade, in regards to the same issue, and statingthe smae thing.

Un fortunatly, I will no longer be posting emails from anyone at MNAO, as it is too much of a liability to myself, and others that could possibly be involved with it.

I'm Clunking since July 2001.

You can't imagine how bad it has gotten on my car...
 
That's strange, my dealer called the other day and said they had the real fix now...its just bushings though, so I'm not too sure about that. I may put it off for another couple of weeks.
 
Just to further solidify what was said....I too was reflash on Tuesday and discussed with the service manager the clunck issue. Unfortunately, they had to order the parts for the temp. fix which I was told could take a week or so for the part to arrive. However, he did mention that he heard news about a TSB for the clunck that should be out within "two weeks."
 
Before everyone gets all happy about this, get the exact part number they are ordering.

Also as has been said thousands of times now, the bushings are not the problem, just the sign of it. There are more extensive design flaws in the rear suspension then the damn bushings.
 
All newcomers to the clunk issue, and those who think there is a fix coming, please refer to the link I posted above and read it from page 1. You'll then understand our pessimism.

And then, please post any 'possible updates' in that dedicated thread.

I'm not going into that MP3 forum... I'm just relaying what was told to me about the clunk. I asked if this was just the bushing replacement they were doing for the MP3 and he said no, this was a real fix from Mazda coming out in a couple weeks.

Apparently its fix the mazdaspeed week at mazda.

I'll know for sure what the part number is when I take the car in. Its unreasonable though to expect a fix from mazda that changes the fundamental design of the rear suspension. If corrected bushings are what they are going to give then thats what I'm going to take. Apparently they have been working on these problems and have a few TSBs out to help relieve the issues.

Good enough for me... today at least.

Its the same bushings on each car!
You have the EXACT same suspension.
THe tread is inclusive of each type of car.
The tread also will explain why a bushing will never do s***!
The thread will also tell you the exact part number to look for to know if they are truthful or ******* with you.
 
Just put your radio volume to 24 or more ... fixes the clunk and thunk (i have 2 different sounds in the back ) for me :-)

But the MP3 did have the clunk before you even knew a Protege MazdaSpeed would exist. I guess mazdaspeed people think the MP3 is a totaly different car from mars maybe !

You'll hate yourself for saying that after you've been back to the dealer 15 times or once every 2-3 months during summer, and every 2-3 weeks during winter to have them redone...
We're hoping for this fix for everyone so that no one has to go through this...its truely agonizing to bring a new car into the shop so often; especially when you see the payments going out of your wallet each month, and will continue for another 3 yrs+/-; AND at some point the warranty will expire, and you'll be up $hits creek w/ out a paddle. We're all just trying to help each other.

i thought they had thicker swaybars and slightly diufferent struts:confused:

They were also supposed to have bigger injector, didn't happen.
 
One would have thought that they would also have eliminated this problem with a new/different suspension setup...but like 1st said, "didn't happen"
