Alright guys i thought id make a build thread since Everybody else on here has one.

pictures from the first mod will be up later

for now:
So i recently re-painted my car a custom tinted aurora blue mica.
I got the paint code from a mazda 3 and added about 130 grams of voilet to tint it to my liking.

heres a couple pics:

first i did the roof

Laid the base coat

-Shaved trunk
-removed side moldings

i blame the paint being 5 yrs old for these dry spots but i had already put it down so im going to try and lay the clear real thick color sand and clear again, which should smoooooooooth it out.

-Blinker/Sidemarker shave

this is the first 2 layers of clear, Im going back tonight to color sand and then ill clear next week.

going to re-clear the CF hood too.

it just rained but this is the roof

I'll get more shots as i go! tell me what you think (stfu)

What are you doing with the hood & front lip? Color matching I hope?

I would have done it all in the blue. Even the roof. Props though for the good work.

haha na actually im keepin the lip flat black, i ran out of paint, lol

i used the paint from my first repaint, the car used to be silver, then i painted it in highschool, and i used what paint i had left, tinted it and only had a gallon of blue to work with.

and im just going to spray another clear coat on the hood

i just like the black accents i guess, i could still be putting the side moldings back on but black as well, idk yet

Any thoughts (before you painted it like as is) on doing the trunk black like the roof, and the hood black as well, and the lip blue?

the hood is carbon fiber or fibre w/e.

I took down the gel coating that was on it and thats why it looks black.

but yea painting the trunk was one of my thoughts, but im hoping to eventually get a CF trunk,

any body got a pic of a blue protege with a color matched dgm lip?

LOL yea the hood is CF, its just sanded down, he's re clearing it tonight along with the roof

he should be color sanding the whole car and buffing it tonight, if the texture is too bad we are going to re clear it next week, but im pretty sure that color sanding should take care of it

Cool, well I think a CF hood, black top, & CF trunk will be tits, so keep on keepin on. That lip will look really good with the top half color matched and the bottom half black, also. I think TWISFM has his like that... Maybe it's someone else, but whoever it is, it looks good.

nice, ill see about the lip cuz ill have to get a small amount of paint and try and match it to the color i have now.

So i just got back from class, and i recleared the CF hood, it looks AMAZING

i also decided to try and buff one of my fenders to see how the clear reacted, since it was so dry at first.....BUT it came out like glass after i compounded and polished! so ill be doing the rest of the car next week, along with clearing the roof, should be done thursday.....hopefully( for some reason everything involving body work and paint always takes longer than you think) lol

u gotta paint the top half of the lip, it messes up the front end being totally unpainted :/

Ok i finally got everything all polished, and semi clean from the color sanding/buffing, so i decided to take a few more shots in direct cun light

i wish i had a better camera.

and yes somebody already got me in a hit and run....(rant)

anyways, i'm with everyone paint the entire lip at the VERRRRY least the top half. it will bring the whole car together.

see i would love to paint it but i dont have any more of that paint left, and its gonna be really hard to color match it with out an exact paint code

i would love to see if any one could PS the lip to body color.

but another option i was lookin at was painting the rock gaurd section down with rhino gaurd, or rhino lining w/e thats called because the paint began to lift off there any way, witch would tie in with the lip if it was black

fyi the DX proteges came with rock gaurd from the lower body line down, which i left on

love the color! I would move from flat black accents to satin black and paint the top half of the dg lip blue, leave the bottom a satin black.

satin huh? thats a pretty good idea, im probably gonna go find some spray paint and see what it looks like.
