Civic SI???

Without getting into the questions of horsepower and which car could win stop lights drags etc, etc like the debates over the Matrix...has anyone seen a new Civic SI yet?

I saw one yesterday and it is ugly!!!!!! OK maybe ugly isn't the right word, weird would be better. What were they thinking? It looks like they cut the nose off a bullet train and ran it through a miniaturizer...very, very odd looking car to my eye.

Have any of you seen one and actually liked it?

I'll take the P5 and its 130 ponies thank you.

Saw a commercial for it last night, and I have to agree, it's damned ugly. Somebody should be losing a job over that decision.

Nah the Honda Element is gonna put them outta business. That is the worst looking vehicle ever I mean they must have been smoking some kind of cheap crack when they designed that monstrosity!!!

I personally don't think its that ugly, although i have to admit that im a Civic SI fan. I still think, however, the 92 model was the best looking one.

it is still pretty sweet at 160 (torque sux though), choices of colour is not that great though (i miss the blue), with compression ratio at 9.8, more expensive fuel is required. I just dont think the value is there though.

The new Civic Si looks like a station wagon with two doors that got mashed up! Not necessarily ugly, but too tall. Reminiscent of those Japanese cute cars like the Nissan March or the like.

I saw the bronze-ish gold one dropped REALLY low (probably cut springs) and it looked pretty nice.

Now, the EK9 CTR looked the best IMO. Too bad it never even came here! Sick of all those people driving CX hatches thinking they're the so cool with Rota Slipstreams and a replica CTR lip and only 100 horses under the hood!

I saw one yesterday, twas the first one i ever seen for real (no adds). It was dropped and had a bad a$$ set of weels. I have to say i tought it was pretty sweet. So i guess it makes me part of a minority on this forum.....oh well i can take it.;)

Not much of a fan of the Civic Hatchbacks except maybe like a '91 CRX Si.

One thing I do like is the shifter placement. As close to rally as you get without having a navigator.

Hp/Weight ratio is awesome!

Hmm, I think the SI would probably win over the Matrix due to it's gearing being better matched to it's power band. I've seen a few out too and must admit that in factory trim it leaves much to be desired just like the Matrix. I also agree with noodles in saying that the new Type R Hatch is a lot nicer and will take a bit more getting used to. I really like the Mugen EP CTR

the Si is some cheap pos american version, if you want to compare then go with the Type R which is really fast for what it is (econo)

That car should win the congression medal of...ugly!

I've seen the new Si on the street and at the Chicago Auto Show. I'm a big fan of rally, but the shifter on the dash is hellasilly and will make or break the car (like the off-center gauge cluster on the Toyota Echo). Matter of fact I considered buying it before the P5 only because of Mugenmons dreaming of a 200 horse 4 banger.

I guess I'd rather have an RSX since they have the same horsepower. Never mind, I'd rather have a Honda jet ski and put it's motor in a Civic since it has 200 horse out of its 2.0. WTF!!!

I'm not a Honda fan, and I hate Civics. So what I'm about to say is quite surprising.

Two friends of mine and I went out test driving cars a week or so ago. One of the cars we tested was the Civic SI. Well, let me tell you, she's not the prettiest thing in the world, but she drives like a dream!

Smooth, very controlled, the interior is great. In the back, there's a lot of leg room (comparable to the P5), and has great hatch space. I was surprised that I liked it, especially since I simply loathe Civics.

But it's like they say, you're never really convinced, until the test drive.

Well, from what I've been reading about all the reviews and all the friends that have test drove one. It drives like the old EK SI, just has a little more lower end push with the torque. Top end feels similar to the older one it just has a softer suspension.

Ugly or not, I test drove this car last week and its fu**in fast!!

The suspension and brakes are nice two, this car performed really really well (enough that driving my P5 home was a bit of a drag!)

The SI is not that bad.......I kinda like it....the interior looks good.....gotta love the seats.......
But a bit pricey for a civic now......but with the features and horses you get....its worth it......

i heard that all of the SIs for the US are going to be built in the UK...they chose one of the plants there to build all SIs for the UK & US there...read it in one of the import magazines...anybody else hear this??

Hey now my friend has a EK hatch with the CTR body kit and some rotas and it looks tight....not to mention it has a full tien suspention as well as a ITR swap.....that little hatch is sick.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a monstrosity, but Honda could have done better in the styling dept. It is supposed to handle well, which is big in my book. You can always add hp, but chassis setup is near impossible to change w/o major buxx.
