My Check engine light keeps coming on and i dont know why i tried letting the ecu reset by dissconnecting the battery for 10 minutes and it went off for a couple days but came back on ... im in a 2003.5 does anyonw know how to get the code to appear?

and the what the codes mean...

The PCM reset you did was not correct. Did you do anything to the car to make the CEL come on?

Well ive only had this car for 15 days i bought it from a dealership used. things that arnt stock are intercooler piping and cold air intake... and carbon fiber grille

Did you buy the car with the light on? Those mods dont seem like they would cause the CEL, but you never know....correct PCM reset is to remove both terminals from battery and turn on lights, sit for min 2 hours.

no the light came on about 4 days ago.... it was off for 2 then back on last night... also my idle rps drop to where my engine almost chokes out som im thinking one of my hoses but i wont know til tomorrow

take it back to the dealership....shouldn't they give you warranty at least 30 days on used ?

Be kinda careful resetting the PCM tho. I talked to a friend of mine that's a tech at Mazda and he said it was really easy to fry the PCM by disconnecting the battery cables on our cars.

the dealership is like.... 2 anda half hours away

and its a 30 day 1,000 mile warrentee if i drive out there i go over 1,000

Call them and let them know about your problem and your situation. Maybe they'll be willing to work with you on it.

im so scared for my car.. i love her and the birdcall blowoff valve...

this is like my first real car im just so afraid im seafoaming out the engine tomorrow so then i'll know wahts going on

does it have a different exhaust? maybe they removed the cat and thats why its throwing the cel

Haha. I know what you mean bout loving the turkey. I don't know if I'll ever be able to change to anything else cuz of the looks I get from it. But still I'd try to contact the dealer to see if they can at least look at it. Also if you have an AutoZone or anything like that close by they can scan it and tell you what the codes are.

but no one knows what i have to push to make it appear?

ok so im still under warranty .... by 8 miles... but yea im still not sure how to tell the dealership thats 100 miles away they need to fix my car..

You can't just make the code appear. Take it to autozona and have it scanned with an obd-2 scanner. It will tell you the code and maybe you can figure out whats wrong with it from that.

sometimes codes will show up in the ecu, and not necessarily throw a CEL, so there's no harm in getting it scanned even if the CEL isnt up right now

Don't fret Timer, well figure this one out. Need to go to part store & see if they can use thier scanner to get what code you are tripping. Then we can troubleshoot. I heard the PT is having an issue as well, I will look at that when i get home. Shouldnt need a scanner for that one. I'm pretty sure it's the same as the neon.

Did you buy the car from a Mazda dealer? If so, are they a Mazdaspeed dealer? Hopefully that's a "yes" to both questions.
