Check ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEMO

ok after i did that air filter mod i god dammit got the cel on and i am pissed about it. It is the error code p0171 and it is SYSTEM TO LEAN (bank 1) is that an o2 sensor or is that because im creating a vaccum with the mas flow air senor not being sealed good and air coming in?

i am being captain obvious, but are the the clips&collars fastened properly?

You have the same MAF as the 1.6L Protege. If you do a search in the Protege section you will find a lot more info. Almost any mod to the air intake system seems to set off that code, it's very sensitive.
Now for a shameless self-promoting plug: of the more than three dozen Simota intakes I've sold I've only had one CEL reported and I'm pretty sure even that one has been addressed...

have you tried resetting the ECU right after you did the mod?

Thanks. I just have the F2, AEM, and stock. I've been recently switching from the AEM and F2 to figure out the strengths of both. I'm no longer satisfied with just WOT dynos ever since I figured out how to use a scantool :)

I'm currently looking for a cheap SRI (just really need the MAF housing) that's long enough to make a hybrid.

You wanna see if you can reconfigure one of my Simota 1.6L Protege SRIs?
It's got the same MAF and mount. PM me if you're interested.
 
Yeah, there's a pic of leijae's SRI in my For Sale thread. If you've got a little
play with the length of you MAF wires you might be able to point the bend down.

Yea, i severed MAF wire's ground on the connector. Took it to a shop, and now my MAF wires have an extra 6in of slack. i will check that out.


oh, anyone who likes their MAF wires should not let off the throttle [without shifting] on 2nd gear at 6000 RPM. You'll get more than a CEL light problemo.

I've recently developed a CEL problem with my Simota intake. What was done to fix the other one?
 
Ooohh, you shouldn't be throwing a CEL with a 2.0L...different MAF. I've never seen anyone with a 2.0L get a CEL with any intake unless it was installed incorrectly, so I doubt that's your problem. Did you have the code read? It could be unrelated, or your MAF is dirty.
How's the car running??
