The P5 spindle will work! Holy crap! I've already got some of the parts (i.e. calipers, cables and such from the rear P5 setup).

Will the mp3 spindles work the same way with 4-lug hubs off a dx? IIRC the mp3 came with no abs correct?

yea all mp3, msp, p5 are all the same only difference is the p5 is a hatch and the msp is boosted and the rear struts have a higher perch. other wise its the same car

Yup me too now i gotta sell my rear ss lines
so I went out to the junk yards today... found a P5 and I took off that rear crossmember support bracket... it's really no different than the regular protege one... looks like all mazda did was added a piece of shield with rolled lip at the top of it facing towards the gas tank... I think the idea was so that if the car got rear ended, that bracket wouldn't puncture the gas tank as easily... does it make the bracket any better? no!
so if you got the regular protege brackets, be happy with what you got... don't waste your time hunting down a P5
oh and I scored a center console off that P5 for 25 bucks too... it's in great shape except for the scratched to hell cup holder piece (don't care, may fake CF wrap it or just get a good piece off someone parting out here)

I don't feel like reading through the thread to see if this was covered yet but the MSP rear crossmember is also a direct bolt on. I had to replace mine on the P5. The only difference was that the sway bar bracket mounting holes were different due to the different brackets. I believe that the MSP rear cross member is an upgrade over the P5. Even if it isn't the P5 cross member was TWICE the price of the MSP cross member through Mazda for whatever reason.
this thread wasn't about the rear crossmember... yes, the MP3/MSP one is better because the mounting holes got reinforced, but that's not what this thread is about!
