Hello all,
I've got the common P0300, random misfire. Only misses at idle, runs perfectly when on the throttle. Replaced plugs, coils, wires, and cleaned the EGR with no success. I recently got the water pump and timing belt replaced when my waterpump bearings went bad this winter, had this misfire ever since. I'm thinking perhaps the timing is off a tooth? According to my scanner (cheap $30 unit), my timing at idle jumps down close to 0 degrees BTDC (lowest I saw was -2degrees). This is compared to the spec in the service manual which states it should be 6-18degrees BTDC at idle. I took it back to the shop that did the work right away after the problem started, and they assured me everything was perfect and recommended changing plugs, wires, and coils. So I walked out, changed them myself. Long story short, still idles awful, but is there a way to check the ignition timing without taking the whole top end apart, and is there a way to adjust the timing without going through the replacement process in the how-to section?
Thanks,
Jaron
