Changing mind about Mazdaspeed?

not surprised. Our car needs a 6th gear. I bet then you'd get better mileage. She revs so high in 5th at normal highway speeds, it's almost annoying. Great for passing cars, but not great for the ole wallet.

Newf,
Honestly, I'd say keep the MP3 and seriously consider slapping on a kit. I like the look of the MP3 much better. The color, wheels, shifter, stereo are much better looking and sounding IMHO. Then you've got the 2003.5 with no fogs, very ugly wing. You should find out where Stou got his kit, which seemed to be VERY reliable, and priced VERY nicely.

Warranty... Well you've got me there, but think of how much you'll learn if you have to slap a new engine in the car :D. If you do it right, you won't need to anyhow. Keep in mind Stou ran his kit at 8psi for 1 year with NO trouble!

That's true that I didn't have any major problem. But keep in mind that a custom kit is not like a kit from the manufacturer with the ECU programmed for it, a LSD, heavy duty clutch, etc.

I know that there's some small problem with the MSP but you'll got some with a custom kit too. If you go for a big turbo kit with a LSD heavy duty clutch some piggy back system like the Link a boost controler etc..., in the end it will cost you more than a MSP.

In Canadian money, my MP3 cost $25k brand new. After the turbo kit, the clutch, some gauges, some steel braided hose, synthetic oil, etc...., I made the count and it costed me $32k. After a winter with the turbo MP3, I found out that I realy need a LSD...$2000 (cdn) for a Quaifee!!! Still need some piggy back system to override the advance timing of the MP3, another 1 or 2k.

That's when I decide to buy a WRX instead of put more $ in the MP3.

I paid $34k for my WRX and the MSP is around $27k here......

As you know I still have my MP3 for the wife. It is now stock and I still enjoy to take it for a fun ride. This car as a better handling than my WRX even with the Eibach coils, the 18" wheels and STi strut bars. I don't like it better than my WRX but on the handling side, the MP3 is a little bit better. It like a go kart!

Here's my opinion about that, buy a MSP (or a WRX :D) or keep your NA MP3.

..... but that's my opinion! ;)

thanks stou. I actually remembered that you had a custom kit. The probem with any turbo around here, there is nobody good enough to properly tune it, and thats a problem. The MSP is my best chance at a half way decent turbo.

And man, if that is what your suby looks like....DAMN!

Yes this is my Suby in my signature.

Wings West body kit
18" Rota Battle with 225/40 Hankook K104
Eibach Pro-Kit
Zero Sport front Grill
STi replica front and rear strut bars

.... and I love it! :D

Well, I can honestly say that after our newest members passing along some great pics of the titanium, I don't think I'll have any troubles or regrets moving into the titanium over the Mp3.

That being said, I am going nuts waiting for this car, and I am going to explode if I have to wait much longer. Feel free to mail any pics to me at steves@nf.sympatico.ca as they are the only things that are keeping me from going insane. Thanks to those that helped so far.

That color is SWEET! I can't wait.
