Change to Protege 5 section setup?

Change the layout of the Protege 5 section set-up like the Mazdaspeed section?

I hate having tiny little forums for everyaspect of something.
This board is split up by model and that's good enough. It has an overall suspension forum and audio etc. Many questions a Sedan owner will ask in audio apply to the P5 as well so I see no need to have a seperate P5 audio forum for instance. Same goes for suspension and engine builds. There is a lot of basic knowledge and info to be had, not every P5 owner will have that info.

Also, sometimes i'm just surfing for no reason in the general forum and see a questions I know I can help with, so I duck in and respond, I will not go through each tiny, dead forum to see if there is anything that interests me. That's the beauty of THREADS, you can see all of them and participate or not. But to segregate each thread type seems pointless. All the moderators would ever do is re-direct threads to the "proper" forum.

i love when things are organized, but I don't think we need to re-vamp.
Like a number of others have stated, it's not like I have P5-specific audio questions, for example. I rather see all the similar engine, suspension, etc. kept together.
so, I vote to leave alone.
However, maybe we need to focus on making threads that ARE P5 specific to make sure they belong here.

The only thing that stays the same is change. I do not fear change but in this case I will have to go with keeping it the way it is now.

i fear change!!

honestly, though, i do like things are organized. but i've noticed that when things are split up, i tend not to check every section. like on the main page, i really only check the for sale sections, the auto news section and this one. and maybe the how-to section. thats it. call me a lazy bastard if you want. but then one day i have a question about audio, or recently its been suspesion/wheels, so i find myself cruising those respective forums. and i'm all like "this is sweet! i have to remeber to check here more often" and i never do once my questions have been answered.

maybe it's just me, but i think you'll get more participation if you keep it the way it is. i agree that we could use a welcome/lounge area. the noobs have been coming out of the woodwork lately, and i have also noticed there has been an increase in the amount of off-topic threads too. and i could deal with a suspension/wheels section. like someone said above, the p5 being different in that respect could help those who have questions, and get assistance from fellow p5'ers with the right answers.

just my $0.02

agreed. the other thing to remember is that if you start having "suspension" or "wheels and tires" sections in all sorts of different areas on the board, you're also limiting the responses that people will get. Yes, the MSP is different than the P5, but that's not to say that someone who owns a P5 will not know about the MSP and be able to give valuable feedback (or vice versa). But if the question is posted in the "P5 Wheels and Tires" section, the other guys may never even see the thread. As a result, usefull feedback and opinions are never even shared.

Would it not be better to ask these questions in a generic section for everyone to see, and just mention in your post what type of car you're driving?

no to add more sections to a car that is almost identical would be stupid. In fact the whole forum layout is retard. Impossible to find anything and causes people to put s*** in the wrong place all the time.

Nah, there are enough sub sections. We have the same engines as the MSP (sans stock turbo setup), and the mp3, therefore we can all do the same mods.

Our cars are just a bit cooler than theirs though :)

and there is less drama with p5 owners.. (sssh) :D

nothing that hasn't been said already. I think a lounge / new owners area would be a good thing, but honestly, it's not really that bad how it is. Search is ur friend. Plus, when u do an advanced search, the P5 is close to the top of the list, so it's not that big of a deal to find it there either...
