CDA-9815 is out !!!

I have no idea when the HD is coming out.
If you need that much MP3 storage there are some RCA out put style units and there is always the Kenwood Music keg that can hold more mp3s.

I think that the best way to go for me is to wait for alpine to release a bigger HD because I really like the idea of having only one head unit for everything :)

The HD sounds like a pretty cool add on, but I wouldn't pay 200$ or more for it (wich is probably what the price will be), I mean, a CD can store at least 100 GREAT quality mp3s and I think it just doesn't justify the price just to be able to store all of my mp3s on a HD.

just my .02$

I'm guessing atleast $400 especialy since it has a full din controller and the best searching technology of any HD system for car audio. But it is no where near the most capacity. Also don't forget Alpines AI net CD changer is also an MP3 player.

I'm ok with paying that price because I know what is to have the freedom of searching and playing music without having to stop to look for a CD. Since Napster started I begin getting mp3 and I get rid of all my CD's since a long time ago, I have my PC connected to my stereo system at home, and at work I have a external HD with a copy of all my mp3's plug to the Mac I work on, and to be honest once you get use to that kind of freedom is pretty hard to go back to the obsolete CD's :)

just out curiosity, whats so special about this head unit other than the expansion possibility? i am going to be getting a new head unit here in a few weeks and i WAS planning on getting the Pionner DEH-P940MP which is about $500, but this new Alpine is causing alot of comotion and i its available for under $400...

It is $500 retail and has every alpine feature including I-Personalize.
6 channel Time correction and V-Drive amp are the big features as are the 5 channel parametic EQs, that are fully adjustable in frequency, width and level. it has a full 3 way crossover so you can bandpass from the head unt.
And it looks so DAMN GOOD!

So what's the diff between this and the $100 cheaper 9813?

And it seems like Alpine ditched the two color button illumination. No more red/amber to match our interior lighting! :(

I don't know if if still has the illumination option or not.
The 9813 doesn't have the two line display or i-personalize
