cd in removed head unit...

Hoping someone could help out...I swapped out the head unit for an aftermarket one, but forgot to take the cd out of the original one. Nonetheless I don't want to uninstall the new one just to plug it in and remove the cd. I do want it out though, one of my favs.

Would an electronics store that installs head units have some equipment, possibly used to test out head units that they could power it up with to remove the cd? Or do I have to take the stock head unit apart?

Suggestions?

stick the power and ground on your battery terminals just long enough to power it and get your CD out. positive on pos and neg on neg of course.

what would i connect it to the battery with? There is no wiring harness attached to it so I don't know what is the power and ground connector. Basically I just have the head unit with no wires sticking out of it, it's just a box.

Sorry, I missed that it was a stock CD player. You can attach wire to the pins in the back of the head unit that correspond to the pos and neg, but it might just be easier to take 15 minutes and pull your new one out, pop the harness back in the old one for a sec.

yeah...the new one is in there pretty good. I got it nice and solid with very little movement. I'd hate to ruin it since I feel like I did a solid job with the installation. Plus, I tried that already and couldn't get the new one out. Guess that's good for keeping thieves from getting a quick steal. Even though if they really want it they will get it. Anyway, I might just have to try sticking two wires in there on the pins and battery.

What I did was take the whole cd player appart. Its possible and not that difficult.

It's nice to know it doesn't sound like I'm the only one to do this. It's just one of those dumb things where afterwards you say, "I can't believe I did that...". I was just too excited about putting in the new HU that I forgot to even check. Oops!

I have a Tool CD in one player, a Black Sabath CD in another, and a Too $hort CD in the third player. Never really thought about taking them out.
