Cargo Dimensions for CX-5 with picture

I looked all over for the practical cargo area numbers and wasn't satisfied.
I knew this box would fit but I wanted to be absolutely sure.
The box is 36 inches wide, 24 inches tall and 52 inches long.
The front seats are all the way back.
If they were moved forward you could fit a box 2ft x 3ft x 5ft in the back.
A taller box, (30 in) would fit but it would have to be shorter (48 in) so it would not touch the back window.

Exhibit A why to get a 16.5 vs a 17? Jk Im pretty sure it would still swallow that but that swath of rear visibility becomes a sliver probably...

This is super useful, thanks. I always liked the dimensions given for every different model of Subaru at Cars101.com.

I wish manufacturers got that detailed on their own websites. Some of us routinely have to haul weird stuff and it's nice to not have to take a tape measure to the dealership.

CX5 Cargo Dim vs Rav4

Length 66 vs 64.5
Between wheel wells 44 vs 43
Ht 30 vs 35

I think CX-5 cargo numbers look low but are very well balanced and almost on par with Rav4 forester.

Do you mean a Toyota RAV4 or a Subaru Forester? Either way, a 5" difference in height is a pretty significant difference.

Well, normally folks dont stack - unless you are carrying boxes which is mostly commercial, note that in the other two dimensions the CX-5 is same or better. Not saying Rav4 is inferior - saying CX-5 loses very little utility. Now a CX-3 is a different case altogether and I cannot justify its existence.

Your 2017 CX-5 numbers don't match mine. I'm seeing:
Height from floor to roof: 32.4
Rear Tailgate Opening Height: 30.7
Width between Rear Tire house: 41.3

Compared with the 2016 CX-5:
Height from floor to roof: 34.6
Rear Tailgate Opening Height: 32.6
Width between Rear Tire house: 41.3

My numbers are from this forum. An older post. I can measure and confirm.
